Are the ones everyone is down on. BUT since it is only DAY 5 its a little early to worry. AND if they are a problem: Hatcher can replace SPears, and Carp is a backup anyway. Henry might be a bigger problem, but a couple of our young guys are looking pretty good. Not to mention Thomas, who has looked REAL good. So we are not in any real trouble yet.

Spears has actually looked pretty good the last 2 practices. I don't think he is going to be a problem at all. He will platoon with Hatcher because Hatcher will have to get on the field if he keeps getting better and making plays.

Bobby Carpenter will be a playmaker for the Dallas Cowboys this year. That is all

I'm not exactly sure that i would say that Carp has been struggling from the reports i read.

I see him getting stoned by Bigg Davis, but that's almost expected.

Plus, as it has been said, this is the end of the first week of practice, so time will tell on all these guys.

And we have the preseason games coming up that will tell us all more about how they are doing. Remember that sometimes the camp superstars fade fast in real games, and strugglers in camp can be real gamers.

It might be a little early to be writing off Marcus Spears. These tidbits are from a report on today's practice in full pads:

3:08 -- I've called out Marcus Spears several times this week, but he just ruined a play by driving Jim Molinaro back a few yards.

3:12 -- Another nice play by Marcus Spears, getting to Julius Jones after a 1-yard gain.

3:30 -- Marcus Spears made Bigg Davis look bad with a swim move.

Sorry Sarge but we might be keeping Spears afterall.

If only, if ONLY, teams would run a ONE DAY training camp.

Then we could get all our ducks in a row, and just pick off the 'weak links'.

But it sure is amusing, isn't it?

In a game notorious for being a six-month long distance run, dependent on nothing more than STAMINA, we want to shoot them at the gate.

Interestingly enough, it sounds like Spears had quite a performance today.

Still no pressure on the QB from Spears though. His ability to play the run has always been there. BUT Wade wants more.

Davis has reportedly looked awful in pass protection.

This is not necessarily true. He has been beat some in drills but so has everybody. In 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 drills, the defender has a big advantage because they can go wide and use their speed. When Bigg lines up at RG with Gurode on one side and Columbo on the other, it going to be hard for anyone to get past him. I'm not saying he will never get beat but 1 on 1 drills are not the same as gametime. I haven't heard a single report of him being bullrushed and thats what it will take for a DT to beat him in a pass rushing situation. I'm not worried at all. If he starts to get beat on a regular basis in pre-season games, then I'll get worried.

It's amazing that Spears has looked horrible at pass-rush and Davis has looked awful in pass protection, despite lining up against each other in 11-on-11s.

Henry will be the biggest liability on defense this year. Hopefully someone beats him out because I think he sucks.
