After watching the Giants get utterly destroyed by the Panthers in their final home game at Giants Stadium can people understand that it isn't just the Cowboys who have bad days?
The Giants needed to win to stay in contention for a playoff spot and were playing a team that was already eliminated (and who we crushed earlier in the year). It was their goodbye game in their stadium and they laid a major egg in it. At least when we did it it was to a team that went 11-5 and made it to the AFC Championship game. We were also in it to the end until our defense gave up the two longest runs in our history at Texas Stadium.
Then we have the Saints who we beat 2 weeks ago losing to the Bucs. They didn't rest Brees this week, he played the whole game and they lot anyway. Reminds me of the 2007 season after we had everything wrapped up and then gave away a couple of games at the end. I think it likely that the same thing that happened to us will happen to the Saints, they will lose in the playoffs to a team they should beat.
People were ready to write us off after we lost to the Chargers a few weeks ago but they are the best team in the league right now and destroyed the Titans who were on a roll until this week. We were at least close with them and had our chances to win it.
The Giants beating us in our home opener in the new stadium was just payback from when we did it to them in 1976.
In a way I felt bad for the Giants former players who were there because I remember how wretched I felt seeing all of our great players at the game only to see our defense completely fail at the end, TWICE! Their guys had to watch the whole team not show up after a promising first drive that ended with a fumble. That seemed to take everything out of them and they couldn't generate anything after that drive.
BTW, anyone still think I was crazy for lamenting the loss of Matt Moore? That kid has it and will be the Panthers starting QB from now on. He would have made a nice backup for Romo but Oh well.
Lastly, is Tom Coughlin the NFL's version of Danny Ainge, the biggest crybaby in the league? Man that guy cries over every call, even ones that are obviously against his guys. And that face he makes is what reminds me of Ainge, it looks like someone just took away his favorite toy and broke it right in front of him. The agony reflected there is just priceless! :laugh2:
I just hope people can take things with a little more balance and not go crazy every time we lose a game, especially in December, and not be calling for everyone's heads. Football is a team sport and one guy is never to blame unless it goes on for years in which case it is the owner 's fault.
Here's to winning out. :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin
