So is Ellis being traded or what?

So is Ellis being traded? Jerry Jones talked about doing what's best for the Cowboys and Ellis, made it clear he won't return to Dallas in 2009 and has done nothing since about a week ago. I mean, if what's best for Ellis is to cut him, wouldn't that have just happened by now? But instead, time is going by with him still on the roster --- making me wonder if the finalities of a trade have yet to be ironed out. I'm not trying to start a rumor here; really I'm asking if anyone close to this situation knows anything (Hostile, dcfanatic, WoodysGirl, etc.) about a release or a trade scenario?

look at it this way;

would you rather have the cowboys out right release greg ellis right now, and say a month later, the patriots lose one of their top linebackers due to injury

then you wouldnt have trading power and greg would get to go where he wants to, without you getting a player in return for greg or say a draft pick

i do agree by the 1st or 2nd week of traning camp, then greg needs to be let go or traded for sure

but just dont do it right away, wait to see what happens in other teams minicamps

The entire NFL knows that we will cut Ellis. Our chances of getting a pick for him are slim to none. We should have just let him continue at OTA's and not said a word, then wait till someone showed a need at the position.

Once you send someone home from OTA's, you've shown your cards.

I agree to some extent. I think they were worried about the 1.5 million guaranteed if he injured himself.

The Cowboys front office isn't exactly the sharpest in the NFL. Not the worst, but certainly we have a history of NOT trading away players with value because we showed our hand too soon or tried to get rid of them at the wrong time.

All being said, the Boys hopes of trading Ellis are right up there with their hopes that Barbie Carpenter turns into Lawrence Taylor.

Jerry should hold Ellis until a team decides they need him after injuries or lack of production sets in around late September

Better yet he should just release him so that I can start the party. I hate it when party plans are on hold.

There are few players on the current roster that I truly don't like, Greg Ellis is one of those players.

I don't dislike him, but I see him as the last locker room lawyer. The purge is complete when his name comes off the roster.

I was in shock driving home from UNT after the season ended when I heard that he wanted a new contract (per NFL Radio). Some freaking nerve....

The guy we drafted instead of Randy Moss is getting cut. He has no trade value.

What's sad is that he won't be remembered for being a good player, or his leadership, or anything like that. He'll go down as the guy we picked over Randy Moss, pretty sad.

He wants a new contract? Well he's got one. Just above minimum wage.

What leadership? Leaders don't cry and moan. He was a solid player. That's what he'll be remembered for... as well as the guy picked instead of Moss.

He deserves it. He's gotten paid very well while millions are struggling, yet whines every year about it. Good riddance.

He was developing into a superstar until he broke his leg. Chalk it up to karma I guess. He was never the same.
