So is this *it* for the Patriots?

Historically Super Bowl losers do not rebound well (except for the Bills, but they are one heck of an exception). Also we have never seen one of the dynasty teams lose a Super Bowl.

Randy Moss and Asante Samuels (major pieces for the Pats) are FAs this offseason. I'm not sure who else is, and with the Patriots having lost, they might start jumping ship for more money. There is the potential for Belicheck to be suspended for all of next year. Their defense is old.

So do you guys this this is the end of this run for the Patriots?

The question is what's gonna go down in the off season with these accusations about their first SB win and if BB will be back next year.

This is the first time a "team of the decade" has lost a Super Bowl during their decade, if that means anything.

Exactly. It is strange to look at it that way. It is almost as if what they've done this decade is tarnished.

Well, today is the end of the current run, but they still have a lot of talent on that team. Moss could be back, but the bigger question may be around their LB's. Seau could retire and the rest of the crew is getting longer in the tooth. The new allegations of video - spying might be more of an issue than we know. time will tell. The Pats are still an explosive, well coached football team.

I think it is a turning point. Teams will know that they are beatable. Football is partly a mental game.

Samuels is gone for sure and with Moss you never know i wont be surprised if he is gone as well. their D is getting old so i doubt they will be the best team going next season well their not even the best team this year lol! they are in the most sorry division known as the AFC east so they will be a top 3 seed by default but i dont know i think the Chargers or Colts are the favorites in the AFC

They are DONE. Nobody could recover from this. They will still be a force because of their crap division, but their dominance is done.

On one hand they won SBs. Can't dispute that.
On the other, they haven't blown anyone out - won in overly convincing fashion - in a SB.

As long as they have Brady, I think they will be competitive.

Brady is still young enough.

Kind of like when we had Aikman or Staubach, we always thought we could win it all.

Even if they had won, what they've done this decade was going to be tarnished, but I get your point 100%. I'm so glad those arrogant bastids lost. Unfortunately, the arrogant bastids on the other side of the field won. Why couldn't it just end in a tie? Never mind because then they'd still be undefeated.

They will always have a chance with a healthy Brady, but that defense is getting old in a hurry and Samuel is about out the door.

Belicheck will be back, because Kraft condoned what he did, unless he is suspended. I doubt very much if Goodell will pull the plug on Belecheck.

Personally I don't care as long as they lose. I'd rather they not get near the SB either. But I don't care that much compared to whether or not we win.
