THE icing on the cake would be to trade up to the end of the 3rd round and draft a punter for depth... Jerry Jones is a joke, we've needed to up grade the OL since 2005 and Jerry Jones keeps drafting skill positions players... Eventhough THE WR and safety are good players we needed OL more than any other position.

It's hilarious how people treat Hanna like he was a high pick.

No. He's treated like a low pick who surprised in training camp and then began to show promise late in the year. He's being treated like a young player that was showing an inkling of being a steal.

Fans were getting excited that we might have gotten a decnet palyer with a 6th rounder, which is more often than not a waste. Now it turns out it's just another waste.

Along with another lost player we could have gotten in the 2nd instead.

Just like we did with Fasano

Just like we did with Bennett.

It's called a two TE set, like New England; Cowboys just Drafted our "Gronk" to go with our Gonzo (Hanna). Very QB Friendly.

This was probably not the greatest evening for Hannah, Coale or Beasley. Harris either, for that matter. He probably just lost a lot of snaps next year.

As I understand, this guy is not a very good blocker, and lacks athletic ability in the recieving game. There is question about his ability to get seperation from coverage. His upsides are apparently "He is big, and has good ball skills."

Not too sexcited about this pick.

System

Escobar lined up all over the formation at San Diego State. He was an inline tight end, slot receiver, and H-back, sometimes changing his position before the snap.

Release

Escobar gets up to speed quickly with a good burst out of his stance. He even gets a good launch out of a three-point stance. Cushion from linebackers and safeties gets eaten up right away when Escobar rips the seam.

Routes

Escobar has an excellent throttle-down and break in his routes and finds lots of soft spots in zone defenses with these abilities. He can get up the field quickly, but lacks a second gear to separate downfield. Still, with his height and ball skills, he can be a viable target in tight coverage.

Hands

Escobar is a natural hands catcher who almost never lets the ball get into his body. He can fluidly extend and go high for a catch as easily as he can get low to snag an errant pass. Escobar might have the best hands of any tight end in this class. He'll gain the trust of his quarterback very quickly.

Ball Skills

Adjusting to the ball in flight is a routine exercise for Escobar. He can go high, low, or twist around to make his effective catch radius as big as any player in this class at tight end, and all but a few wide receivers. Escobar doesn't quite maximize his ability here, as he lacks a "my ball mentality" and does not attack the ball upon arrival.

I would not assume much at all as of now about the depth chart other than Witten being number 1.

I don't get the Hanna is over and wasted pick. He's shown some flashes so I expect him to compete for snaps. Whether or not he can I don't know but I see Escobar as a hybrid and Hanna too. But there are only so many to go around. I do think Hanna can compete some for WR snaps and should be able to help Escobar as an H back.

And Escobar is not slow and gets separation readily. And when covered well he just catches the ball over the DB or LB.

James Hanna (4.43 forty) is moving to WR.
He's 250 lbs...and considering the fact that all Escobar is going to do is catch the football, he's going to have to be a TE.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that Hanna is over. He is going to have a chance to compete. We won't find ourselves in a position where we have TOO many weapons on offense.

We're going to see a lot of 4 receiver sets. Whether that is 2 WRs/2 TEs, 3 WRs/ 1 TE, 4 WRs. I think we'll use it to maximize our match ups.
