So Jerry Wants Felix to Get the Ball More...

Oh, now the fun begins...

In the off season Wade wanted a rush heavy offense. Garrett wanted 50/50...reality is we are getting something like 62% pass...

AND NOW THE BOSS says that he wants Felix to get the ball more (according to my NFL Mobile Live Update)...it's gonna be fun to watch now...

Question is why doesn't the head coach go over and slap the mess out of his underling OC (who technically has to follow his decisions right)?

I guess the "true" decision maker stuff will start if Felix touches the ball 20+ this weekend...be ready.

Of course this might be one time when Jerry's medling may be fruitful for us.

IRVING – Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones reaffirmed his confidence in the "special qualities" of Felix Jones, saying he favors giving him more chances.

"I certainly understand balance," Jerry Jones said on Thursday. "But I'd sure like to see him with the ball more."

Through runs, receptions and kickoff returns, Felix Jones has averaged 9.4 plays and 104.6 total yards per game this season. As a rookie last season, Jones averaged eight plays and 80.7 total yards.

Jones has been less of a factor since spraining a ligament in his left knee. In four games since returning from the injury, Jones has averaged nine plays and 86 yards total offense.

Jerry Jones said that based upon input from the coaching and medical staffs and what he sees in practice, there is no reason to doubt Felix Jones' health. The owner expressed a belief that Jones would be a big-play producer again with more chances.

"We need to get him in situations outside, or where he has a little space, and we'll see some of that," Jones said. "It's not a frustrating thing. It's a tactical thing."

Jones said he has not demanded coach Wade Phillips and the offensive staff make any changes because all concerned agree with him on this.

Well, at least we can bet on Felix getting a lot of touches this week.

Apparently face-to-face confrontation makes Wade go pee-pee in his pants, so that's why we needed to bring in another layer of front office bureaucracy in Dan Reeves to do that sort of dirty work for him.

Because Garrett doesn't have to listen.

Who knows, maybe even contractually.

Maybe because we are the 4th ranked offense and scoring about 25 points a game and sitting in 1st place?

If they convert on third downs and get more plays total overall, getting Felix more carries will be no problem and I think everybody would be happy.

Wade never said he wanted a rush heavy offense. He said we wanted to be able to rush the ball more effectively. He said top 10 in rushing and not number 1.

Our playmakers are at QB, and both TE and WR positions. They know better than to be stupid and turn into the Dolphins.

I'm getting to dislike this talk. There are holes in this offense. It may be ranked high but eyeballing it tells me a different story. And getting Felix into space is just one small problem.

I don't know if Washington can't mount the same pressure as GB did but I'd bet decent money they try and emulate them. That's problem number one.

I think the offense can learn to handle the blitzes they're going to see. They'd better.

you mean the same offense that just got offensively outcoached and shut down - AGAIN - by an inferior opponent? Yeah, now you know where you can stick thos rankings...

They did it well against Philly, but sucked against GB. I'm sure part was because they weren't expecting that kind of pressure from GB, but they better be expecting it now.

From an execution standpoint correct?

My biggest beef against our Offense is we are nothing short of terrible at identifying DB's when they blitz.

There is holes in the offense because we played bad vs GB? Sorry bad games happen Dallas has faced pressure defense and made them pay as we did in Philly the week before. I'm getting tired of over reaction as soon as we lose a single game all of a sudden the offense is broke.

I don't think it is broke we had plays for the taking and our guys did not make them. I do agree blitz pickup is important and we did a very poor job in the GB game of doing that. Even Barber who is normally a good blocker on blitzes was tossed to the side by Bennett when he got a sack on Romo.

I think this team has to keep working and trying to improve but I don't think anything is broken I think we had a bad day at the office.

I'm not sure about holes, but there definitely is inconsistency. The good news is that inconsistency is something that can improve with coaching and practice, but the bad news is that the inconsistency is not a new thing, so it's hard to believe we are about to figure it all out.

The O-linie is the one area where I think there are real personnel issues. Flozell has constant problems with quicker pass rushers which leads him to false start, hold or let a guy go by untouched. Everyone on the line is good, but no one is outstanding, which results in average. Flozell can flat out be a liability at times, and outside of Kosier none have particularly quick feet.

If we could just mix in one or two outstanding players to go with the decent/good players we have the line would end up very good and much more consistent.

I'm with you. Stats mean something but mainly, I'm about results. And when we've seen this offense fail leading to a loss, it's the same things. Generally, lack of committment to the run resulting in a overly-pass heavy offense resulting in an inordinate amount of blitzes and failure to pick them up, resulting in sacks, turnovers (fumbles, INTs), losses.

The Philly game made me start to think perhaps we were starting to turn the corner. Thus far, that appears to have been an abberation.

To the thread topic, all I know is I have heard Wade say in multiple PCs about having to run more, having to get Choice involved, having to get Felix involved. However, come game day, whatever the reason, he simply seems incapable of communicating that to Garrett, because on the heels of a loss he says those same things. I hardly think those thoughts didn't occur to him until after the game, especially coaching the defense.

Garrett is struggling against experienced DCs that can put together a scheme...(Philly and NY both are sporting new ones).

Denver and GB outcoached the hell out of him, and GB even said he was obvious.
