I don't think the issue is the overall drafting. It's how many relatively high draft picks (first three rounds) haven't panned out as expected.
I agree. We have been great drafting in the first round, with Taco getting a too early to grade, grade, and Jones at least being solid. Claiborne was drafted too high(and wasn't worth the picks lost), but actually is a good corner, when healthy.
When you look at the 2015 draft class, the players that are still here have not really progressed since day 1.
Jones at FS is fine. Not elite or great, but plays well enough to get by there.
Green..bad time to talk about him. constantly injured too.
Wilson, JAG at LB. Hasn't improved since being here.
Swaim, solid depth TE. Nothing more nothing less. Almost a JAG.
8 draft picks, 4 still on the roster, but those 4 aren't necessarily standing out in a good way.
2014 was a good top heavy draft in Martin, Lawrence and Hitchens. The next 6 draft picks aren't on the team.
2013 gave us Frederick and T Williams. The rest never fully developed(WIlcox) or went to prison(Randle).
Of course no team will hit on every draft pick. This isn't Madden. Sometimes the team can do their homework, cross their T's and dot their I's, and then the player just doesn't pan out either to something on or off the field.
2016 so far gave us Dak and Zeke as two great picks. The rest, still need to prove themselves. Some like Collins and Brown have flashed, but they have also had their struggles.
