Well, I couldn't argue with her... she drives 30 miles one way every day for nursing school and the gas was eating us alive as I drive a Dodge Quad Cab...

She has/had an 04 Mercury Mountaineer which is a darn nice vehicle, but not much on gas mileage...

So... to eBay she goes... and my wife is a tireless researcher. She finds a great deal on the car she wants in Baton Rouge...

She drives to Baton Rouge and this is what she comes home with... a MINI Cooper...

I have to admit... this thing is an absolute BLAST to drive... it is made by BMW for Cooper and it handles like a serious sports car...

Now I have to find a way to get a shot at driving it more... :D

It looks like a chick car on the outside. I'm surprised to see that it's fun to drive. Pretty sure I'd get carjacked if I drove that in NYC though. I love the interior. Looks so sporty.

BrAinPaiNt, I was going through the members picture thread, and saw your pic. I must confess I thought your avatar was of the Undertaker. I swear that's what I thought.

Actually the other thing she was considering was a new beetle... those look like chick cars to me... and I like the Cooper so I was good with this purchase...

The Cooper is actually very pleasant to look at in person and has a LOT more room than you would think on the inside. Four adults can comfortably ride in it and It has alot of headroom when the top is up (a pet-peeve of mine with most cars)

The handling is very responsive... if you move the steering wheel, you are going that way. It is also so low to the ground and wide that it corners very tightly. You can weave through traffic with ease... and it is very quick...

It also has the electronic dual transmission so you can drive it as an automatic or a standard...

I give this purchase a

Good job, Honey!

I was going to ask you about the transmission. I couldn't figure out what it was. It looks nice. But what's this about weaving through traffic? You on the run from the law? :p:

"Naturally."

Lee Van Cleef was the man. I always rooted for him against Clint.

I thought about buying one recently for the exact same reasons. They corner pretty well and handle nice. They have a lot more room than you'd expect from a tiny car.

Well... she did like the looks alot, but still liked the Beetle a bit better..

I re-upped at consumer reports.org and we looked at reliability ratings and the Beetle was a "Not Recommended" while the Cooper was "Recommended"... so that sealed the deal...

It worked out well for me as I would have gone down kicking and screaming when she needed the truck and I had to tool around in a red convertible Beetle... :banghead:

Tell Mrs. trickblue, she made a great decision. I luv the color.

My next car is going to be something small like that.

It's funny about the color... it looks blue... and it is sorta, but it is really indigo... they then used red and purple pearl coat and they call the color "Purple Haze"... since my last name is "Hendrix", we thought it appropriate... :D

Nice purchase. Those MINI's are ready to autocross right off the showroom floor.

I've went head-to-head with them in my STi and they're nothing to sneeze at. They look much better than the previous gens, that's for sure.

Congrats, Trick...but I think you may be outta luck unless you want to one-up her and get a Audi TT. :D

I'm surprised she didn't buy a bus to toss you under.

:)

Nice car. Looks like it would be fun. It's definitely an attention getter.

I could fart and blow it over, but it still looks like it would be a blast (no pun intended) to drive.
