Knowing what has occured already in the off season... Using the best available player theory... U have 7 guys rated about the same.. Not caring about the names just the positions.. They are WR, OLB, FS,NT,OG,OT and MLB... Who would you pick to improve this team?

either OG or NT the cowboys need the down and dirty players in the line of scrimmage where games are won and lost.

For me, it would be FS if he's a real ballhawk, then either NT or OG

The sad thing about the options given, is a CB has better odds of seeing more playing time than any of the above mentioned positions. Why is CB flying so far below the radar as a absolute need for the Cowboys?

NT or OLB, depending if I could more easily get the other one later in the Draft.

NT - Reason is clear. Our DL would be set, Ratliff needs a quality rotation guy, both lines is where it all begins, our LBs become much more effective.

OLB - If we can get a pass rusher, you take him. Pass rushers aren't easy to come by. And if any defense, but especially Wade's, the ability to apply pressure is critical.

OT - Something must be done at the LT spot before it's too late . It might already be too late . I don't know that Flo can make through another 16 game season .

Couldn't agree more. Of course you never pass up a pass rusher. OTOH, it's actually harder to find a 3-4 NT who can play both the 2 and 3-technique really well. The chance of finding either isn't going to be easy with our 2nd. But it could happen. I'll settle for a big 2-technique NT though.

It depends.

Probably a FS, if a ballhawk. If not, I'd go MLB, perhaps G, definitely considering NT. WR definitely.

So, I would say, FS, MLB, G, NT, WR.

FS > 3-4 OLB > ILB > NT > WR > OG > OT > CB

I think a good FS would start for us and help us immensely.

We need another pass rusher and that guy could have a role day 1. The OLB's generally determine how far a 3-4 defense can go towards being great. If we can't replace Spencer we can at least give him a back up.

We also need another Inside backer. Neither James nor Brookings are young, and neither guy is good in coverage at all. We could give a draftee a special teams and nickel backer role day 1.

If we can find a good Nose Tackle he can play in short yardage and run situations. He could also spell Ratliff some or allow Ratliff some snaps at DE.

We can use a WR for sure and one who can help on special teams makes sense. We have only one slot guy on the roster in Crayton so if we have value with a slot type guy it makes sense.

The big uglies go lower for me because draft selection hardly equals performance. And because it is unlikely they can play early on. So they'd have to stand out as higher than other positions for me to grab them early.

I'd like us to grab another CB it is unrealistic to think they'd be higher than a 4th guy and thus not a great use of our highest pick, 51.

Would depend on how deep the draft is at the positions outlined. I would take the best player at the thin position. Chances are, it will be more difficult to get a quality player later in the draft.

I would jump in my time machine, go back and re-draft Bobby Carpenter. Just for shyts and giggles. :lmao:

Hamlin is a safety and whoever we draft will be a Safety.

All safeties are now free safeties.
Dallas has long used their safeties as interchangeable.

Will the guy we draft be on the field yes but he would be on the field with Hamlin.

OG, DT, or a really rock solid SS. Those would be the three areas of biggest concern for me.

Follow that up with ILB, WR, DE, and CB depth.

Good point. Players are ranked per round anyway not position. They can do better targeting a position thru FA than the draft although it certainly comes into play.
