Having your QB playing no turnover, mistake free football in December and January..

Not just Dec and Jan. All year. That extra game or two early gives you margin to at least qualify for post season.

As much as that's needed, we also need the extra defensive takeaways, too. With a possession worth a couple of points, on average, one or two takeaways is the margin for victory in a lot of NFL games.

And I disagree with posters who think this team hasn't gotten hot at times. We were one of the hotter teams in the NFC last season heading into the Saints game. Then they really exposed our weaknesses on defense.

Turnovers, too, cost us the win against WAS in week 17. Turnovers. Not our HC. Not our OC. And not our OL.

I don't belive there is such a thing as a fluke SB win, it takes luck, a healthy team and skill. If they do take it all this it will have been along time coming for thre Boys

catching the critical pass of the game with your helmet

At least as important as Tyree's helmet-catch was having a generally sure-handed db (Asante Samuel) drop the interception Eli threw directly into his hands 2-3 plays prior to the miracle wounded duck to Tyree.

yep

but the giants had to be in that position late in the game against the prohibitive favorite for that catch to make a difference

the whole game was not luck

just that catch was

Minimal penalties, positive turnover ratio, 50+% Red Zone scoring, and solid, consistent blocking for run and pass. If all else fails, give it to Dan Bailey within 50 yards

This. Samuel drops int, the one receiver on the team that everyone on the staff and front office said that he had problems all season with his hands and being able to catch a ball, and Manning throwing a Terry Bradshaw special WAY too high. Those series of events are Fluke City but, as stated above, the whole game wasn't a fluke just those events.

Side Note: Manning throws dangerous, dumb pass that gets caught: He is a hero
Romo throws perfect pass to WR(Ogletree against the Bears) that hits the WR in the chest bounces what seemed like 50 feet in the air right into the DB's arms: He's garbage

Staying healthy and lucky.

Which is why 2007 is the most disappointing sports year ever for me.

We were one of if not the most healthy teams in the league, and we were getting all the bounces (Buffalo, St Louis, Detroit games)

And we flat out choked. Crayton dropping passes, defense giving up a TD in 50 sec, Oline getting crushed. Just pathetic.

Just stay healthy. With average health last year they would have been in the playoffs.

Frederick is going to be a massive upgrade over last year's primary starter at Center, Cook.

I think they (the Gboys) recovered 3 of their own fumbles in that game too with (lucky) bounces. Just sayin

And not letting your opponent's QB do the same.

If we are in the hunt come december then we need to get on a roll. Have Romo on fire and hope it's not another win and your in finale.

In the playoffs continue to play good football on both sides of the ball. Minimize the mistakes and penalties, throw in a little luck and anything is possible. Maybe pay off the refs too ;)

every time Coughlin's job is on the line the Giants win a Super Bowl...there has to be some kind of voodoo, gypsy, white, black, valyrian magic going on in NYC.

it's just soul crushing watching our team never catch a break...the Dez Bryant almost-game-winning touchdown almost made me quit the Cowboys and NFL in general...

but you know what they say, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger so Cowboy's fans must be pretty indestructible.

Acts of God, like shutting your eyes and throwing the ball deep and it eventually ends up in your receivers hands.

You just described half the passes Ellie throws.
