Ratliff also only cost $20.5 million over five years, where Ware will cost upwards of $80 million. It's a lot tougher to get a deal done that's going to cost more than most QB's in the league make.

Whats the point signing him now? No other huge name is going to get signed between now and then. The Haynesworth deal is the starting point. Nobody else is going to get more than Haynesworth between now and game 10 of this year. Why not wait and see what happens?

the haynesworth deal screwed everything up IMO.
the lack of a CBA also is something to consider. he could be a RFA next year if they cant get a new one, so we could wait a year to pay him ungodly amounts of money. plus we may not have to deal with a salary cap starting next season.

The answer is very simple. Ware hasn't been offered a deal he likes yet. He'll sign when he does like the deal.
