I heard from a top secret source that the reason Jerry hasnt signed Ware is he is going to let him go, and then turn around and use that money to bring back Ellis and Ekuban.

huh? we are talking about a guy who signed a nice 5 year rookie deal and is likely going to be signed before that deal runs out... where exactly is the problem? The fact is that it benefits Ware to have waited until this year as he now will likely become the highest paid defensive player in the league whereas last year he wouldn't have gotten that sort of deal.

I could have sworn he main issue was number of years. Of course I could be remembering something I heard a couple of weeks ago that has been since shot down.

Ware wants a shorter deal so he can come back on the market still in his prime where as the Cowboys would rather do a 5-6 year deal where they have locked up his prime years.

If I was GM, I woudn't sign any of these knuckleheads until I absolutely had too. Halfway through thier last year of their current deal seems about right.

Whats the point signing him now? No other huge name is going to get signed between now and then. The Haynesworth deal is the starting point. Nobody else is going to get more than Haynesworth between now and game 10 of this year. Why not wait and see what happens?

Eli just recently got signed and Rivers likely will get signed at some point in the next couple months. So there are a couple of big names doing their thing, other than Ware. But I don't see it as a reason to worry. Ware will retire a Cowboy.
