Soap operas are atrocious

It always blows my mind that soap operas are so popular. They're so atrocious with asinine plot lines and terrible acting. I cannot imagine wasting my time watching that crap. I worked in a place where we had a break room and some people would put on soap operas. I tell you, that was a cringe fest. I would walk into the break room to find some absurd interaction between two people about who was cheating with whom and who was conniving with whom and … blech. I don't get the appeal. Does anyone get it?

I'm surprised with "reality" shows on the TV there is still an audience for these scripted soaps. Even my ex-wife got bored and she was loved her show.

I remember the lady that used to watch us when I was real little would watch them. I remember thinking a lot of the girls on there were hot but that was also when I used to think Daphne from Scooby Doo was hot too.

Aren't their only a couple that are still aired? I think they've been replaced by fake court shows

The Progressive commercial isn't far off from what the actual soaps are.
I should be nice, because I have a friend who used to be in one.....Oh wait, two friends. One was back when I played little league. Anyone remember the Snickers commercial in which the kid hangs upside down from a tree? That kid was TJ Hargrave, and he used to be on one of those soaps when we were little.

The other guy grew up in the town I first lived in, here in CT. He used to frequent the bar I was a bouncer in. He brought his girlfriend in one time (a soap actress) and you could tell just by looking at her that she was no ordinary 9to5er. My god, she was gorgeous!

Does " criminal minds" count? cuz' I've been taking this entire month of August off and doing a whole lot of nothing ( and other than the bed sores, it's pretty sweet reverting back to the night person I can be) and have been binge watching that one lately.

Now, seriously REVEREND, back in the mid 80's I did kinda follow the ongoings of " Luke and Laura " of General Hospital while drawing unemployment! Now ,granted the fact
They were running around in the jungles of central America at the time,,, so yes,I can see where people watch them,,,

Ha! My wife is addicted to Caso Cerrado. Features a lady Judge. I think my wife loves it because the lady Judge throws men in the calabozo!!

I have watched some in the past and I actually respect the work they do. Yes, plots can be silly, some times the acting isn't great but in a year the production team completes more shows than a something like Big Bang Theory has produced in 10. You're not going to get the Sopranos on that kind of schedule.

This is why Deep Space Nine is the worst of all the Star Treks. It was the closest to being a Soap Opera. Half of the episodes are almost unwatchable.

I thought DS9 was very hot and cold, but when they were on, they had some outstanding episodes. but their stinkers were extremely bad.
