Obviously right now our offensive line has some weaknesses. For the most part this year they have been OK/Good in pass protection and Bad/Terrible in run blocking. Mainly for the sake of this post I would like to know what you guys think we have to do to improve (vastly) our rushing attack. As of right now these are our starters Flozell Kosier Gurode Rivera Colombo. I'm willing to bet there is no discussion on Rivera and Colombo. Rivera BYE Colombo lock up. As far as the other 3 are concerned who can we keep and who should we replace to improve our RUNNING game. Gurode I believe is a FA not sure if he is restricted or not. Kosier we just signed and Flozell im sure is still signed for a few more years. (I think) Obviously Kosier is a good pulling guard but im not so confident hes doing so hot opening holes when hes not pulling. Should we keep Kosier? Should we Resign Gurode? Should We replace Flozell??? Should we replace all 3? What are your opinions. Im just sick and tired of not being able to RUN the football.

Remember when Julius Jones' used to be most dangerous off of draw plays. What happened to that BP? I remember his game in Seattle and New York where he went nuts, and almost all his yards came off draws.

rivera has to be the weakest link. the problem is that the players we drafted in the past flopped. i wouldn't mind inserting al johnson at rg and see what he has.

Or play Al Johnson at center, with Gurode moved to right guard, which worked last year in Carolina(where Julius had 200+ yards)

We also had Larry Allen, Torrin Tucker, and Rob Petitti in that line.

Yep...remember it well and have said so consistently about every other week during the games....Barber is the one that has been getting the draws.

You would think that the coaching staff could go back and look at the film and see that JJ was excellent running draw plays.

Sad thing is that the fans see stuff wrong with the defense and the coaches don't...same with the offense. And no, I don't buy into the theory that fans are stupid and know nothing.

I disagree with this completely. The pass-blocking has been horrible all year long. Putrid. Run-blocking, however, has been pretty good. It dropped off at the end of the season, but when you're giving up 30+ points per games, that will happen to your running game.

Yes... the pass blocking only looks semi-decent thanks to Romo's uh, moxie. The run blocking seems ok over the left side, but up the middle and to the right, it stinks.

I say we cut ties with Rivera ASAP and draft his replacement in the first round.

We have O'Doyle, er, McQuistan to pick up Flozell's slack if needed.

I think we're stuck with Kosier for a little while. He's serviceable.

We should realy look for somebody to backup Columbo - I don't trust his knees. Maybe Fabini can be that guy.

Actually I look at it completely different. The pass blocking looked terrible due to Drew Bledsoe. Now that we have a qb who gets rid of the ball in a realistic time frame they can do their job. Aside from Julius having a few 100 yard games this season our running game for the most part has been absent.

Tony has masked some of the problems with his ability to maneuver outside of the pocket, but he is forced to run around for his life at times. He shouldn't have to move outside the pocket. He only does so because the pocket collapses too quickly.

Should have signed Wahle last year instead of Rivera and Hutchinson this year. At this point McQ better be the answer at LT or a replacement better be on the way because Flo isn't getting any younger. Kosier seems OK if that is really good enough. Gurode will be back at C and again may be good enough. Rivera needs to be cut but Colombo look pretty solid. The revolving door of backups may hold an answer or two who really knows. More than anything I think we need a top shelf O-Line coach. That would do wonders for our running game. I really miss the road graders we had in the 90's that allowed Emmitt all kind of space to run in.

There is no question the protection last weeek was atrocious. That was by far the worst they have played since Romo took over. For the most part since Romo took over IMO they have played decently-better than their run blocking.
