-Many of the passes that went for 15+ yards against us were to a man covered by henry, sometimes with help from watkins.

-Scandrick came close to blocking a few field goals (at least it looked like it was him)

-The Pittsburg game makes me sick. I cant believe we blew that lead, we dominated them for most of the game then quit in the end. (offense was slow starting but defense held strong for most of the game

-the Baltimore game also disgusts me

-Although i was a little worried about craytons performance next year i realized he did make some pretty incredible catches and runs after catching them.

-I think some people underrate and undervalued the contribuitions zach thomas made for us last year.

Agree on all but Zach wore down and didn't play that great after Thanksgiving.

My observation: Cory Proctor sucks.

Proctor should not have been resigned. Find a younger kid who knows how to sink and not get knocked back into the QB every other play.

I was trying to get rid of Henry and his broken down legs for two years now.

Hopefully if a thread pops up like this next year it will contain..."man im glad the cowboys cut cory proctor"

and yes his name is in lower case, because he doesnt deserve it to be in upper case. When he starts to block people from walking right past him and throwing romo in the dirt, thats when he gets upper case.

I never did like the addition of Zach Thomas.
He was an aging undersized ILB who plays in a division that has strong running teams like the Commanders and Giants...even the Eagles had a really good offensive line though Andy Reid rarely takes advantage of that.
Zach did wear down and everyone should have known that would happen.
The dude can only slip past guards for so long until they finally get the best of him...especially when he is an aging linebacker.
Think about this...
pulling guard from the Giants
Madison Hedgecock-270 lb fullback leading through the hole
then you have Brandon Jacobs and 260 lbs after that.
No way an aging undersized ILB is going to wade thru all of that to make a tackle. No way!

Ax yourself something: Would a Landry or Jimma have let anybody in any game quit?
Answer is obvious. Jimma would be in their faces or get rid of them overnight.

On the other hand there is the Clown Wade Phillips. I think Jerra now realizes what a sad sack Wade is.
But that scalawag Jerra :) he's got a heart bigger than his brain, and he will keep Wade for another year.

Consider this year as another year in waiting for the buildup to the super bowl in 2012. But with a real coach by that time.

And, um, about Zach Thomas, his contributions were duly evaluated and he was shown the door.

Zach was obviously not suited for the 3-4, he was pushed around alot, I think at some point, you just can't do it anymore. Wish we'd gotten him 5 years earlier.

Ok it seems like everyone so far thinks i mean that zach was an excellent player who should have been kept and ruled the inside. As we all know this isnt true. I honestly am glad that we didnt resign him because he did start to wear down but everytime i read his name on here it seems like people are acting like he was pure garbage and he wasnt. Was the great for us? NO. was he one of the worse inside backers in the league? NO. was he average and could the cowboys done a heck of a lot worse? YES Not saying he was great, just saying it seems to me he did enough to not be considered a "bust" or a crap player.

Your treshold for performance/contribution is very low.

Zach played really well in the beginning of the season. Coaches were absolutely raving about him coming out of camp. There were a number of games in the middle where not much was heard about him either way, and a couple of plays late in the year where he was conspicuously blocked out of the play and everyone dumped on him.

He wasn't the best fit, and it was good we moved to replace him, but even late in the season we all were thinking this defense was bordering on being a dominant unit. Zach couldn't have been that bad, but who's actually counting?

On a related note, I wonder if we gave Pisa Tinoisamoa any consideration this offseason. He was a good pickup for the Bears this late in the game. He's small, which is why the mention of Zach made him come to mind, and he'd likely take the snaps we're reserving for Carpenter, but both the Eagles and the Patriots were reportedly interested in him, and he's a tackling little dude.

Also, and not that stats mean much but even though zach did wear down he finished with 94 tackles, second most next to bradie james and tied for 44th most in the league. also not sure if this is true or not but i think i remember hearing that his 94 was seventh most by any cowboy in a single season. again not saying he was great or deserved to stay but still, not garbage.

I agree 100% about the Steeler game. It just sickens me when I see how we
dominated them for 3 quarters then let it slip away!

That game was given away. Slipping away is one thing, but this team flat out gave Pittsburgh that game after dominating for 3 quarters.
