What about Skyler Green? Has he impressed you so much that you're almost ready to pencil him in as your returner from Day One?
Parcells: Well, I would like to be able to do that. Right now he's too fat. I'm not kidding. (He's) way too fat. We have to get him down.
Have you had that conversation with Green already?
Parcells: Yeah.

What did you see in Jason Hatcher to draft him in the third round?
Parcells: He runs 4.7-something and he's 6-6, 290. It didn't take long.

Can you talk about that right tackle position?
Parcells: I'll tell you (Rob) Petitti will be a lot better player this year, I already know. He is just physically so superior than what he was last year at this time. But I think he will better. I don't think (Jason) Fabini will give up 15 sacks if I put him in there and turn him around backwards. I don't think he'll give up 15 sacks. The (Marc) Colombo kid has made a pretty good recovery physically. That was a long-term proposition on our part to try to take him and just put a whole year in him. He was a No. 1 draft choice. He is big enough. He has a good attitude. He's probably been in the weight room as much as Terence Newman, which is like Newman retired the trophy.

I caught that line about Newman. His weight room work paid off last year and I'm glad to hear he is still at it.

It is really encouraging that Columbo is making a recovery. He had a lot of potential coming out and if BP can get it out of him we have a real steal in this guy. Also, what BP said about Pettiti is exactly what I expected to hear about him. He was no where near the physical condition that he needed to be in last year when he was thrown into the fire. He was drafted in the 6th round to be a 1-2 year project and the time table was moved up big time. Give him another year and he will be a stud IMO. With these two we may not be as bad off as everyone keeps whining that we are at OT. Maybe that is why we didn’t panic and reach for an OT in the draft.

That's pretty much what Parcells said. OT was not a big need going into the draft in their minds because of the progress of these two guys (Petitti & Columbo).
