Some random thoughts that have been knocking around in the knoggin lately...

*Let's give the front office (Jerry) some credit on the job he has done assembling this team. The Cowboys took a ton of criticism all offseason for losing the players they lost and seemingly replacing them with ? marks. Fast forward 4 weeks into the season, and these same people have nothing to say to the negative. Give him credit for guys like Jack Crawford who is turning into a nice, serviceable rotation player. Give him credit for Rolando McClain...wow, what a steal. Turned a huge negative with Lee into potentially the revelation of the season. Give him credit for assembling an entire offense, which looks to have dominant aspects to it, entirely through the draft and rookie fa. Amazing when you look at the offense, all homegrown guys. ALL OF THEM. I doubt there is another team in the league that can say that. Also give credit for the Linehan and Marrinelli moves...look to be genius.

* Is Jason Garrett finally turning the corner and becoming a real nfl head coach? I have never felt he was more than a robot since he got the HC position. Lately, really since the Titan game where he was showing real emotion and making great challenges and riding the refs the way he should be....it is really dawning on me that he is finally getting comfortable with the job. I know there is a lot yet to be determined here, but he is starting to show me that there is a personality there and that he may have some HC skills after all.

* This team is VERY early 90s. Obviously the Oline and running game are reminiscent but also our defense. We are running a 4-3 and having success with a defensive line rotation. They have been very much committed to the rotation and I think it is really helping our dl play at a higher level. This is another area where you have to give Garrett credit, he is implementing what I had been shaking my head at for the first few years. I never thought I would see this team, look like this under Garrett!

* Is it me or are the traits of this team after each week we out coached them and out toughed them? This is starting to look like we have a really talented coaching staff and that in turn is having an effect on this team's mentality to out tough opponents. I love it.

i agree, they are putting some pieces together and look to be headed in the right direction. i will become a true believer when they can beat some good teams this year. The Titans, Rams and Saints are not good teams. Beat Seattle, Philly, AZ, Chicago and then we will know how good they are and can be.

So far so good - Seattle will be a good barometer of where we are and not necessarily in just the score. I'd like to see us match their physicality on both sides of the ball.

Kind of what Romo said in his post game presser, the coaches want the offense to be like Seattle's defense where it doesn't matter what the other team does because we're going to do what we do and there's nothing you can do about it.

That investment in the offense line is huge. Johnny who can stay in Cleveland, we got us another gem on the oline.

I've always felt Garrett had the right attributes to be a good head coach, but had handcuffed his ability by choosing to remain the offensive coordinator as well.

Bill Parcells credited a lot of his success as a coach to having the right coordinators, and it appears that Garrett might have finally found his ... which allows him to just focus on being head coach.

I will be beside myself if DeMarcus Lawrence can return from injury and play at the very least like a poor man's Charles Haley.

That would be sweet.
