Yeah, I see what you mean -- thinking they own us could be a detriment rather than an advantage to them, however. They may be surprised to find out that the advantage they had last year doesn't hold up in 2014. Dallas' defense is considerably more stable than Rob Ryan's was last year. We'll see what Stafford has to say about Marinelli & Co., as opposed to his BS about Ryan's awful defense of last year. As we all know, things have changed considerably since then. I'm hoping he'll discover that fact this time, much to his chagrin. We'll see.

Rob Ryan was not our coach last year. However, here what I noticed in the NFL replay last night:

Jeff FREAKING Heath. Was possibly the worst job I ever seen on the deep passes. Jakar Hamilton and B.W. Webb saw critical game action. Ernie Sims was a main cog. And I did not see DeMarco with one carry leading me to believe he was hurt as well.

As bad as you think the defense is right now it is nowhere near is bad as it was then.

Guess I think about Kiffin so little that I plum forget he was large and in charge of our "D" last year. Anyhow, our defense last year wasn't in any condition to stop anyone. Hopefully, we'll be up to the task this time out. The injuries were insane the past couple of seasons. Thank goodness we've gotten past that for the most part.

Yeah Murray was hurt, I didn't even recognize half of the names on the Dline except hatcher. We almost beat them last year with a defense that was playing together week to week and had no continuity. this year our defense has been playing well, especially of late. We still could have won that game if our offense could have sustained a drive late in the fourth. that's the difference between then and now. Not only can our offense sustain a drive to win the game but more times this season our offense dominated from the 1st quarter; so by the 4th quarter the game was wrapped up. With a worse defense, by far, and a less talented offensive line, we still almost beat them in their house last year. With a QB playing as well as Romo and an oline playing as well as ours and a defense that capitalizes on turn overs we are a much better ball club than last year.

I got much more confident watching the game from last year on NFL replay due to the factors listed above. the one concern I had is Sean Lee was an absolute beast in that game, so he will be missed. But turnovers are turnovers whether Lee gets them or someone else and Stafford isn't good with taking care of the ball.

My prediction
Dallas 38
Detroit 17

Frankly, he probably could if he got enough targets. We'll mix it up but I'm pretty sure he won't see too much 1-on-1.

Well, that is true......the Cowboys will be so stupid to defend him the same way as last time. They deserve to be hit with 3 bills if that happens. Don't think that will be the case though. And I would be very disappointed if Wilcox or Church don't pound him hard when he comes across the middle, even if it is bordeline flagrant. The Suh appeal has taught us a fine is all you would get in this case.

Carr had his own failures in that game but the real culprit was Heath. Carr gave up alot inside, but everything deep was Heath not being in posistion.

Calvin may have peaked in 2012. He only has 8 TDs on the year, 5 games of 100+ yards and 2 games with a little over 150 yards. 71 catches divided by 16 games equals only 4-5 catches a game.

For comparison Dez has twice the TDs with 16, 4 games with 100+ yards, and same 2 games with 150+ yards. Dez has 88 catches (ironically) for an average of 5-6 catches a game.

The defensive lineup in the last game included Wynn, Nevis, and no Demarcus Ware. The secondary did have Claiborne and Heath.

Murray was out on offense with an injury, and Dez was a non factor until the middle of the second quarter when he touched the ball for the first time.

We still almost pulled off a win on the road. And Matt Stafford is a joke at QB. He is the most undisciplined quarterback I've seen next to Jay Cutler.

Didn't Johnson miss a few games this year?

@ttwentyman "Johnson said if Cowboys try to single cover him again he'll try to duplicate his 300+ performance from last year."
------------------------------------------

That's some real passive aggressive trash talk from a supposed quiet guy. Detroit thinks they own us.

I mean, he's right. Locker Room material or not. Single cover him, and you will get burned.

He's not Dez, AJ, Julio, Marshall,Brown ect......Where you can sometimes get away with single coverage. No there is Almost 0% chance when it comes to this guy. 99.9% chance you will get eaten.

The only guy who is 100.00 is Moss....Calvin is right on his *** in terms of that.

The only thing that can stop him, is a super poor thrown ball, even that sometimes is not enough.

Yes he did.

When it comes to Calvin, stats don't matter. You would have to be a complete fool or homer, to think he is what his stats say he is. Those rules don't apply to him.

In 2 of my FF leagues I drafted CJ in the 1st round. I won't make that mistake ever again.

I am not saying Garrett is any of the coaches I am about to name but doesn't it seem like he has a little of BP/BB/JJ all mixed together.

Not really surprising. He's spent a considerable amount of time picking the brains of all three. Along with a ton of other coaches that have been successful in college and other leagues. This guy's entire "process" is about several angles of building a championship team. More than one way to skin a cat, so to speak, and Garrett is relentless going at it from every perspective possible. No coach is perfect and Garrett is no exception but I have no doubt that he isn't being outworked by anyone in his pursuit of building a great team. Out-witted maybe, but I don't believe out worked.
