Ekubust is coming back to town with denver this week.
Hmm i wonder what LA and the O-line will have for him.

Isn't it amazing someone can do when you play to their strengths, instead of forcing him to play a read and react system???
czmtzc said:Yeah, when this topic was first posted I was going to respond about how Eb had improved the minute he left here, but I looked at his stats, and while he had 8 sacks last year with Cleveland, he only had two this year. So I guess it was just an anomoly. I don't expect much from him.
TheHustler said:Uh, Ekuban has 2 sacks. Myers has 2 sacks. These guys have no strengths.
They won't even get to double digit sacks combined.
dallasblue05 said:It wasnt an anomoly at all, 8 sacks is barely respectable!! well to me anyway.

mr.jameswoods said:Well that's what Greg Ellis achieves in a good year so I hope 8 sacks is respectable.

While Ekuban was being double and triple teamed while he got to his 8 sacks last year!! Man no wonder Cleveland let him go, with him being such scary talent.

mr.jameswoods said:Did he carry your books and walk you to the bus stop every day after school?
Please, what right does any of us have to attack another DE for 8 sacks when your holiness himself averages that every year.

Good stuff James.
I wouldn't attack any DE for having 8 sacks, especially after some of the production we have had to put up with guys like Wiley and Ekubust.
Ellis is what he is, a guy that is underrated by most, but quietly goes about his job every season and gets the job done. His production doesn't match his draft status, but I don't really care about that at all. If every pick we had didn't perform to their status, then I would have a problem. I'm a big Ellis fan though and admire the way he plays the game.
Go back to older posts around training camp and see how many people were ready to axe him off the team when all of the 3-4 talk came about, and look his production this year. The guy is a player period, regardless of the scheme, regardless of which round he was drafted.

You have always known me for being fair despite my cynicsm, so I will say that Greg Ellis is the last person who deserves any criticism. He deserves a lot of credit and if I haven't given him that credit then it's my bad because he clearly deserves it. And it finally looks like he will break the double digit sack barrier. This new scheme has suited him well and yes, a lot of fans were criticizing him this preseason upon the announcement of the 3-4.
I just don't believe in double standards and that's what I felt was going on when someone attacked Ekuban for only having 8 sacks. I mean cmon, who are we to talk when Ellis has been doing that for years and is still praised. And maybe you disagree but I don't think his failure to achieve more sacks is because he faces double and triple coverage on every down.
