I put this in an earlier thread but that thread was pretty much at it's end, so I wanted to post this again if anybody is interested in my opinion:
I just want to throw something out there. I would love and hate T.O. on the Cowboys. I haven't made up my mind which way to go on the issue, but I do want to throw something out there:
YES, the Eagles can trade T.O. before the deadline.
NO, T.O. does not have a no trade clause
That means that Filthadelphia could trade him, but unles s T.O. wants to play for that particular team it probably won't happen. The Chiefs, and most other teams he's been rumorred to go to, do not want to take a $7.5 million cap hit right off the bat.
YES, T.O. can restructure, but he holds that leverage. If he doesn't want to play for a team he doesn't have to restructure.
And just a note for those wondering how we could have anything in place with T.O. already.......The Feacles gave T.O. and his agent permission to speak to any team he wants. I do believe it is feasible that Jones and/or Parcells have talken to him without any notice. Just look at the Broncos. They almost got away with talking to T.O. with no notice from the press, but somebody leaked. My guess, Rosenhaus was try to drive up the price on another team of interest that he already had an agreement with.....let's just say the Cowboy's.
I for one, just can't see T.O. NOT signing with Dallas. All the writing is right there on the wall in front of us:
1. Adam Shefler, who I consider a very viable NFL source, has predicted it
2. Chris Mortenson, the best ESPN has to offer on the NFL, has predicted it
3. Several other "so-called" insiders on several Cowboys boards have predicted it. Take that for what it's worth, but some of these people (such as "Playmaker" on kffl.com) have been correct more that wrong in the past.
4. Jerry Jones continually throws in the reference that we need another WR, even though he's not even being asked about it
5. Keyshawn has shown signs of aging, and T.O. has not, so should that money be spent to keep one malcontent or spent on an even more talented malcontent
6. We all know that Michael Irvan has both Jerry Jones and T.O.'s ear. He could have been playing liason the whole time
7. It has also been reported that both Jones and Parcell have a very good working relationship, and a mutual respect for Drew Rosenhaus
8. I think John Elway, and his opinion, killed the the prospects of T.O. going to Denver. It would kinda be like Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman saying that Dallas should not touch him.
9. The owner of the DOlphins has publicly stated that he wants nothing to do with T.O. on his team
I just believe, like somebody stated earlier, where there is smoke, Mr. Jones is burning a fire, and I believe that fire is going to get T.O. in Dallas.
Let me finish is off with 1 other little tidbit: Don't believe for a second that the Eagles would not trade, or do not want T.O. to play for the Cowboys. They know 1st hand how he can dismantle a team from within. Why wouldn't they want to see him do the same thing to a division foe? If I recall correctly, there were several reports that Jerry Jones, I think his name is Banner, and Lurie spent a lot of time together over the last week in regards to the CBA. Wouldn't it be the S@$T if they used the CBA to mask a discussion on trading T.O.?
