LAW INTERESTED IN PACKERS, COWBOYS
Posted by Mike Florio on October 16, 2008, 5:06 p.m.
Though cornerback Ty Law is talking to the Dolphins, he’s apparently interested in several teams. But he prefers to play for a contender.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Law would be interested in joining the Packers or the Cowboys, both of which have injury problems at the cornerback position.

“I can walk in now and play on Sunday,” Law said. “I just want to go out and play ball. I’ve been training to play, I’m ready to play, and I want to go play.”

Other teams that have shown some interest in Law over the course of the past several months include the Browns, Patriots, and Jets.

All about the $$$. If his price is reasonable, now's the time. You can send either Ball or Pacman packing and have a veteran you can count on for the rest of the season.

Hey, at least we'd be replacing an "outlaw" CB with a legal one. :laugh2: Goodell would be happy.

For the veteran minimum I would, but nothing more.

Though I doubt we have any money left over at all. I'm kinda suprised we were even able to sign Roy Williams to a deal.

At the least I'd bring him in for a workout and see what he shows, and talk to him about $ expectations. I am not convinced Newman comes back healthy quickly, he just seems to be a slow healer (not a knock, just an observation, or his injuries have been downplayed as less severe than they really were in past). Pac is gone for at least 4 and I think for good (at least that's how team needs to approach it).

What happens if we lose one of our current top 3 (Henry, Jenkins, Scandrick). Law has savy and has WINNING Experience. I think he'd help young guys at the least and be a decent stop gap. Depends on how he looks and how much he wants, but he's one of those stones you need to turn over I think. He's the type of veteran like Polk that I think can really help the depth and give you a couple impact plays.

Maybe you have him to help at safety in case we lose a guy there too?

I think that having ty law would bring his experience to help us. Also because of his knowledge for the game he would be able to help our rookie cb's. I think he would be a decent pick up.

Veteran CB Law wants to be a contender

Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Ty Law

Playoff contenders already have lost some quality cornerbacks this season. But now another one is volunteering to help.

After watching Dallas lose cornerbacks Terence Newman and Adam Jones to injury and suspension, and Green Bay lose Al Harris to injury, veteran NFL cornerback Ty Law said he would like to try to help one of those teams — or another playoff contender — at a position in which they could use it.
Law said he believes he could help Dallas or Green Bay advance to the postseason and the first Sunday in February. Law said Thursday he would welcome the chance to speak to either of those teams — or any other in contention.

Throughout the off-season, Law has spoken to a multitude of teams that included New England, Miami, the New York Jets and Cleveland, but at age 34, he would like the chance to play for one more championship and he is ready to sign.

“I can walk in now and play on Sunday,” Law said from Florida, where he has been training. “I just want to go out and play ball. I’ve been training to play, I’m ready to play, and I want to go play.”

Law said he now weighs 205 pounds, which was his playing weight for 13 NFL seasons. He hadn’t missed a game the past three seasons; the last one he missed was in 2004, when he broke his foot. Over the past three seasons, Law has intercepted 18 passes, giving him 58 interceptions — 52 in the regular season, six more in the postseason — during his career.

Asked about the idea of playing in Dallas, Law said: “That would be a great opportunity, to play for a contender. I just don’t want to play for anybody. I want to play for a contender, where I have the chance to go to the Super Bowl. I can help Dallas. I have the experience, I have been there before and I can help get a team over the edge. I’m not going to be a weak link for anybody and I’d love to try to provide some leadership for Dallas.”

Green Bay would have its own appeal. There, Law would be reunited with Charles Woodson, whom he helped recruit to Michigan. “When I left school early, he replaced me,” Law said. “We have a close personal relationship and that would be a great opportunity to get to play with him in Green Bay.”
Even now, Law would be willing to listen to offers he wouldn’t have during the off-season. “It’s not a money issue at this point. At this point, you just want to feel respected. But I’m ready to come in and help the right team.”

That's a key point for me. If Law is about playing for a championship rather than another payday, I'd like to see the team bring him in.

What he lacks in speed at this point, he makes up for in experience.

And a look-see don't cost ya nuthin'!
