Biggs: Commanders a possible suitor for Rolle

Paired with Landry would strengthen secondary Brad Biggs

Print This Send This March 04, 2010, 10:50 AM EST

Nobody is going to get a shot at Antrel Rolle until the Arizona Cardinals officially pull the plug on him or sign him to a longterm extension.

Rolle is due a $4 million roster bonus on Tuesday and has a base salary of $8.1 million for this season. One source said he doesn’t want to return to the Cardinals, and has already turned down an offer from the club that averages a little more than $6 million annually.

The Chicago Bears are expected to be interested when Rolle reaches the open market, and a source said that the Washington Commanders could very much be in play for Rolle. He said he doesn’t believe the team is necessarily cued up to make a run at Julius Peppers.

“They’re going to be mentioned with the biggest free agent every year,” the source said. “And the owner can’t do that every year.”

But the source said that Rolle, even if the Commanders overpay for him, makes sense. He’d give new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett some athleticism and allow the Commanders to keep LaRon Landry at strong safety, where he is best suited.

Of course, nothing can happen until Rolle is cut loose. Stay tuned.

Go to the Bears. NOT the Skins!

I'd love it, absolutely love it, if Danny Boy decided to sign all the guys to HUGE deals this year without a thought to what he'll do when the cap comes back and they're having to drop all these players to get back under it. That would thrill me.

Especially if it worked out like when he first bought the team and he bought all those FA in and then didn't even do anything. That would be awesome.

I would have loved it a lot more last season when Zorn was running the funny farm.

But I don't want Shannahan getting to work with all that talent.

Those are talented players. That's undeniable.

Not saying the Skins would win a damn thing with those guys on board.

But they may not be cellar dwellers anymore either. And last time I checked it was already crowded enough at the top of the NFC East with the Giants and Eagles fighting us tooth and nail every year.

I don't see John Elway on the skins so I don't fear this shannahan team

.
And many Commander fans (not nearly all) are cheering all of this on. However, the smart Skin fans I talk to are terrified to death of Friday morning.

CAP, CAP, CAP. Every year it's the same thing with the Skins, how do they do it. Regardless of what the cap is next year, the skins will find a way to get under it. The CAP always has been and always will be a JOKE.

Keep spending $ on defense Snyder...:muttley:

It really doesn't matter if your team can hold people to 14 or less every week when your offense is barely good enough to score 3 on a good day

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

What's really funny is people keep saying "Snyder is going to do this" and "Snyder is going to do that..."

Did people forget that Allen and Shannahan were hired?

did you forget who hired them?

Until Snyder actually shows he's changed why would anyone be dumb enough to think he has?

Wasn't Gibbs also supposed to fix his mess when he was hired?

Well Danny is still the owner but if you believe he will be completely be hands off in his annual off season superbowl spending spree...has Allen or Shanny never brought in high priced FAs in the offseason in their pasts?

The Commanders need an OL. Until then they will be pesky at the least. It's never completely fun playing them.

Yes -- the problem was -- it was turned over to Vinny afterwards...that's like handing the car keys to a 10-year old...

I am not saying they will or won't sign big-name FA X, Y and Z, but to not even acknowledge their influence or even their presence is ignorant.

And Snyder has earned that reputation...I think he will. OR I hope for my own sanity...I sincerely don't think Allen or Shannahan would be here if he wanted to have his hands in the batter

11 straight offseason titles coming up (although we seemed to have lost in 2002, 2005, and 2007)

Peppers, Dansby, Rolle, D. Robinson, trading 2 first round picks for B-Marsh, signing Sproles to a 10 year deal, and trading picks 4-7, and the next 10 picks to move up to draft Jimmy Clausen. Final payroll for 2010 will be 350 million dollars

You heard here first. Trophy ceremony from Assistant commisioner in July at Commanders Park war room, right before training camp starts.
