That's good news. Even if he's limited early on...should be ready to play at the latest after Week 4.

Yup witten doesnt want to come off the field, Hanna should take over on 3rd and long tho, witten can't break tackles, and Hanna has proved to be a good blocker, and with that speed could really open up the field. 2 tight end sets would benefit us

It seems like all it takes to change the offensive staff's mind about using Hanna is if he occasionally drops a pass, they'll quit using him. They haven't actually appeared to have that much patience to develop guys like him who need reps to get into a groove. From all the appearances, they may not be inclined to allow young TEs the reps to develop until such time as Witten hangs it up. I think Hanna might prove to be a seriously dangerous weapon if they were inclined to use him more. Candidly, it might be his route running that's too inconsistent to suit them, though. Just a supposition on my part, though, since we haven't seen him being tested that much.

Doesn't look good for Swaim. They wont keep 5 TE's.

There's no denying Escobar's receiving skills. As has been posted here by many this is one
of the staff's failures; finding a way to use Escobar's skills. He can't block, well use him
differently.

Another worthless second rounder, but I don't necessarily blame the guy, we refuse to give him a real chance.

He improved both years and get hurt. Romo was throwing to him in year 3 and got hurt in his own right. Witten isn't what he used to be downfield and Escobar has a chance to step up. Looking at him, it seems clear to me that he has worked hard on his core and bubble. That is what has really kept him off the field functional inline strength. We are one of the most run oriented teams in the past several years.

While it sounds good from what has been explained to me and what makes a lot of sense is that Hanna has extremely poor lateral agility. Put simply, he cannot cut worth a damn and is easy to cheat on because of it.

In fairness they were using him differently last year running him out of the slot a ton. Out in space his foibles inline are not as pronounced. He had the arm strength to hang on since year 2 but you need legs to drive. Year 1 I recall him trying to get his hands on LBer and they would rip him with ease.

Hanna went through a similar progression and didn't emerge until his 3rd year. Romo getting hurt killed our passing game in the middle of the field.

For some reason we don't use our best weapons on offense enough...I almost forgot we had Escobar what a beast. Romo isn't smart enough to realise he has to pass the ball to Dez and Escobar more.

If you were able to figure out how to use a computer im sure Romo can figure out how to pass the ball to his receivers

Be careful, someone will say you don't know anything about football, etc. However, you don't think Romo and the offense is designed to pass the ball to the open receiver?

Should be ready to go for TC.

Hmm .. I didn't expect him to be. I thought he would PUP, which would allow us to keep Gathers.

Now, we've got Witten, Escobar, Hanna, Swaim and Gathers. I would assume neither Escobar nor Hanna (whom we just signed to a multi-year deal) is going anywhere, but I guess Swaim and Gathers will fight for the fourth spot.

Escobar does have a lot of talent, but when you're behind a future hall of famer and not regularly on the field its hard to prove anything... Roster is getting pretty compeitive at TE. If Gathers can show something it may make them keep 4.
