well thanks but I see no evidence in your claim about Rogers not saying Rogers isn't a better QB but it's not Romo's fault for the lack of Escobar's use. The one thing many have posted is Witten does get Romo's
attention but if you are placing that in a fault category well I would think many QB's including Rogers would be placed in same catogogry.

Escobar was taken before Kelce in the 2013 draft...he just makes catching the ball look so easy. I'd love to see Moore get a chance with Escobar at tight end if Romo continues to ignore his top receiving options..there is no excuse as to why Escobar hasnt had a 1,000 yard season yet...Either Romo is clueless or someone on the coaching staff should be fired. I think its a combination of both.

LOL @ ... Escobar? Really! 1000 yards ... he'd be hurt before he got half way there, which would be a career season.

Learning a new position, much less in the NFL, will most likely take more than a year of development.

Antonio Gates had one of his best years in his second year pro.

The question isn't as much about how long it will take but rather, how the coaches use him. You don't want to overload him, just have him learn one thing and be good at it, and then learn another. The Cowboys have really suffered in the development book because too often they ask players to know everything before giving them a chance. Why the second half of our drafts almost always turn into complete garbage.

At least Gates played football in high school.

Come on man, Gavin Escobar has 24 receptions in his entire career .. for 303 yards. He ran a 4.84 four years ago at the combine, BEFORE the season ending Achilles injury.

Dude is a loaf and can't take a hit, every time he gets the ball it's like waiting on paint to dry just hoping he doesn't appear on JACKED UP highlights again. Beside that nightmare the injury means his bust potential is higher than ever. Odds are that his spot will be taken on the roster before the end of training camp.

I'm sure you could have put down a similar scouting report to all the TE's we've trotted in here that went on to be productive pros.

Escobar has more than enough athleticism and skill to be an asset on a team that decides to utilize him.

He's not Tony Gonzalez by any stretch, but the idea that he's only got 24 catches for 303 yards is some kind of definitive assessment on his ability is false. It's an assessment of our idiotic misutilization of quality resources on players we have no earthly idea what to do with.

Excellent hands catcher, very natural. Locates ball over shoulder very easily, picks the target out of the air effortlessly. Runs the seam like a wideout, long strides and eats up ground. Frequently beat defensive backs vertically, especially when they anticipated the route to be broken off. Absorbs contact even when catching away from body. Can sustain a run block if he gets inside hand position and latch. Frequently used in motion before the snap. Occasionally slow plays first few steps to get defensive back flat footed.

Taken from his draft profile.

gonna be positive here. Any change Escobar has any trade value if he practices in training camp? That is best case scenario for me.

His roster spot has NEVER been in question on this team until this year.

The truth is that he's never been considered by the staff nor most fans to be a solid contributor. That alone puts his status in question.

You read somewhere about the staff saying that? (when given opportunites)

Their refusal to use him more than they do speaks for itself. He's slow and sorely unable to get open in his routes and inadequate as a blocker. (jmo)
