said the media couldn't watch the Cowboys OTAs M-W but could watch on Thursday; so, he will provide details on what's happening during that practice seassion. Can't wait to learn a few more details on whose working where and how well variety of different players are doing.

I am glad the practices can be reported by the media to us fans unlike the BP days

I have never understood why fans feel entitled to what is going on in practice.

Umm maybe to get through the summer without actual football games...;)

I preferred Bill's way. In theory we keep things in house unlike the Campo days when the whole league knew what we were planning to do......thanks Coach Joe

Agred, just as long as we do not have another "Hard Knocks" on our hands; not that I didn't enjoy every minute of that show, but I have to say I think it takes away from team focus. As long as we don't become a circus with the media, I say have at it.

I agree with this. And I hate listening to the media talk about how 'nice it is' to hold conversations with assistant coaches. That was one of my favorite Parcells rules - made it impossible for the media to come up with a huge story.

Can you imagine last year if the WRs Coach had been able to talk to the media about TO?

But what's the secret?

You mean teams won't have a clue on what Wade Phillip's defense will do?

Or what the offense will be like even with a new offensive coordinator?

I just think this "hush-hush" stuff in so overblown.

But see I like the "stories"...

This is all entertainment-- that's all it is.

And we all live to be entertained. ;)

Feel free to quote me for that last line. :D

I prefer to win without distractions. In my opinion, the media might have infringed upon that last season. I am more entertained by what goes on gameday, not that this coach is pissed at this player.

Check out the original post again. Seems to to me the practices are rather restricted to the media, save for one day when the practices will be rather vanilla.

But you know we had that last year WITH the assistants not be allowed to talk.

For years and years the Cowboy's assistants could give interviews during the season and honest to God I don't remember one single incident where an assistant coach's comments created the uproar we had last year with Haley and Owens.

That's because we never had Owens on the team. And my point was what if Haley had been able to (legally speak) last year. It would have been 3 times as bad.

That's shear conjecture CR. Heck if Haley had been able to talk he may have been able to "pooh-pooh" the whole thing as being nonthing, which it really was. But as it was it was allowed to linger like a bad smell for most of the season.

Seems to be pretty good conjecture, considering we never would have had the media frenzy about TO getting fined for sleeping if said coach didn't break the rules and talk to the media, like he wasn't supposed to.

Haley = loser.

I'm not saying Haley isn't a loser CR! LOL!

But the fact remains the assistants are available to the media this year... good... bad or indifferent.

And that's the it is May, 23, 2007. :)

I don't think it matters too much if the media sees some of practice, they always had shots of practice in the days of the Jimster and I think he ended up with pretty good results. I'm glad we get the access, in a time when the NFL "seems" to be taking that away from the fans.:)
