correct me if I'm wrong but don't teams usually wait until your season is over before pillaging your coaching staff? I remember waiting until after the SB last year so we could interview Ron Rivera. It seems like it would be a courtesy to avoid distracting the team...

No, you are correct, but they can ask permission to interview.

I won't be surprised if Sparano leaves. He sort of took a demotion this year.

Ireland would be moving up the ladder as a GM. I can see him moving on too. The question is can Jerry prevent it until after the Draft as he's said?

Garrett I think will stay.

I wonder how many of our other scouts Ireland and BP take to Miami with them.

If Ireland should leave Ciscowski will step in nicely.

Scouts are replaceable, truth is it is a turnover heavy profession.

I would love to be a scout for the Cowboys. Talk about a dream job.

I think we're looking at the possibility they are leaving in the wrong light. I can't speak for everybody who has been around for a long time, but I know that when Tom Landry's assistants started getting hired as Head Coaches I was really proud. I always thought Dan Reeves would be the guy to come back and replace Landry, but an Arkansas oil wildcatter had other plans. Reeves, Ditka, Stallings, Nolan and others got jobs and the team moved on.

Hos, I actually thought Jerry would hire Reeves some time after the Swizer years but I can't remember if it was for Gailey's job or Campo's. I liked Reeves and I thought he could have done a great job here. He's a football coach through and through and I always thought he got a bad rap with Elway; just two different philosophies and the coach lost the battle with his QB.

In the 90's when our Assistants become hot commodities I felt the same pride. Wannestedt, Turner, Davis, all got the same ops as Jimmy's guys that the previous ones had as Landry's guys.

I feel a sense of pride that Ireland, Garrett, and Sparano are coveted around the NFL, and if they happen to leave (I don't believe all will) then we will find guys to take their places and we will move on.

I too think it's great that we have quality coaches and success will result in these guys getting HC jobs. It comes witht he territory. But while successful teams lose their coaches, I think it's rare to lose your personnel director. Teams that religiously draft well have stabilty in that department and Ireland is the one guy I don't want to see leave.

Good teams do that. Forgive me, but in recent years the New England Patriots have lost Mangini, Crennel, and Weis and they have survived.

They've survived because Paoli is in place and they've drafted well. That's why Ireland is my biggest concern. Also, just like our 90's coaches, a Pro-Bowl, HOF QB makes allot of guys look good (or should I say better).

Either way, I'm waiting for the hammer to fall but here's what I think will happen: Sparano and Ireland are as good as gone. Sparano is a fantastic coach but his loyalties lie elsewhere. He's not a Jerry/Garrett/Wade guy and the HC job is probably Garrett's when Wade leaves. Sparano has gone as far as he could in this organization so long as Garrett is here. Garrett will stay, if anything because he's loyal to Jerry and he knows Wade is just holding his seat warm for now and that's not a knock on Wade as much as it is an acknowledgement of Jerry's long term plan.

Between the Commanders game and all the rumours surrounding our coaches and Ireland, it's depressing...............

If it makes anyone feel better if he leaves, we can queue up the interview with Ireland talking about how great Bobby Carpenter will be as a pass-rusher in the 3-4 that we can plug right into the SOLB position opposite Ware.

Great Point Adam, we need to find if any of the scouts wanted Cromartie and promote that guy.

Alot of these guys (Sparano, Garrett, Ireland) can thank one person for all of this interest and its not Parcells. It starts and ends with Tony Romo, if Bill didn't stumble on to him because of Payton none of this would have happened. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile and for one I don't see a Romo on Miami's roster right now, and I seriously doubt they can catch lightning in a bottle twice. I say go ahead and try and good luck, don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

If they can, we should be able to. Does that mean I want them to go? No, but I don't mind the speculation at all. It puts this franchise in a good light and sends the signal to any potential free agents and coaches that this is the place to be.

Just another perspective to think about while we chew on our fingernails to balance out the Maalox we're taking.
I don't think they would have survived IF Lacewell was in place of Pioli.....:)

Yup if Bledsoe was still running the team we would be .500. If you want to win in the NFL you have to have a competent QB. I think coaching is important but there really is a bunch of competent coaches out there... Now you still need players after you get the QB...so though I would hate to lose Garrett it may be the loss of Ireland that hurts most

Probably DAT he's good friends with zack. Parcells likes dat might want him on the staff. Todd bowels could be good as gone. You know Parcells will raid the dallas roster once he gets a chance to. Paul Pasqualoni could be another one to bolt.

Sparano can leave any time he wants. I'm not gonna let Jarrett or Ireland go however.

Another thing to think of is long term. If the Boys and Jerrah get a rep for helping guys get promotions elsewhere, it will help recruiting new guys here.IF we get a rep for holding people back, that is bad long term.

Tom Ciscowski (sp?) will do a good job if we lose Ireland. I believe that.

I still don't believe Garrett is going anywhere. I think he has a deal to be the next HC here. That is the job he wants.
I hope your right Hos

Is it such a bad thing if Sparano leaves? I mean, he may be strong at calling plays, but I can't say I am wowed with the performance of the offensive line.

You sure your most hated list shouldn't have Aikman and Buck?

I'm not all that impressed by Sparano as an OL Coach. That's why I wanted us to hire Marco Rivera and still do.

Julius Jones started to look worse and worse when Sparano started taking over the OL.

Our OL is not good at all at run blocking, and hasn't been. Marion Barber looks good because he creates, not because he has good blocking in front of him.

Also, I was vocal last season that our offense was not as effective as it should be and could be much improved. I have never had much care for Sparano.

Pass blocking this year they are great. I agree on run blocking under him.

Pass blocking has always been a little better than it looked - hard to block for the Bledsoes of the world. But pass blocking is what your LT is paid for. Everyone else on the line needs to be a good run blocker.

One of the reasons, I think, is that our OL is huge. Even if they get a push it's hard to find a gap between 2 350lb guys. Lots of strength, but not quite enough athleticism.

Still, though - there could be some improvement there. They were a better run blocking unit in 2004.
