Who do you guys think should be our new ST coach? Maybe promote from within? We finnally had pretty good special teams this year...I hope we don't lose Mat McBriar.

We tendered McBriar, I believe. So he's not going anywhere unless someone wants to give us a 2nd round choice.

And no offense to McBriar, anytime someone offers that for a punter, you take it.

As for the coach, you hear the name of Dave Toub quite a bit.

I would like Bill Bates to be considered since we are doing the old "glory days" bit. Why not Avezzano as well?

I like Atl's former ST coach. Joe DeCamillis (sp?)

He's fiery young guy. Reminded me of Avezzano. Pumped his fist alot, too. And you know how much we missed that on the sidelines this year.

VaTech ST Coordinator Bud Foster would be a solid choice as well.

Both Texas and VaTech are known for their excellent ST play over the last decade or so.

:welcome: to the forum.

In addition to Rivera, John Taub's contract is up in Chicago. He is the ST coach there. Maybe he comes with Rivera.

Norv Turner's ST Coach from his Washington days, Pete Rodriguez, might also get a look.

Not sure why you would want Bud Foster...since he is the DC not the ST coach.

Although you are right they do have excellent special teams play. I think that is more a product of Frank Beamer (HC) than bud foster.

Coach Joe

Coach Joe was a major problem with the Cowboys...

He's one of the ones that would feed the media all of the negative inside info over a few beers...

NO THANKS...

Nice name. Not really. I guess that shows why it took you a year and a half to learn how to post a message.

Taub would be a good choice IMO. Bears ST is a factor in almost every game they play. A lot of it is Hester but somebody had to be smart enough to take the guy. I wouldn't mind Taub at all. Don't know that Chicago would allow it thou. They may pay him 6 cents more to say.

Like Rivera, the Bears' current special teams coach (don't know his name) will be available after the Super Bowl, as his contract expires on Monday. The Bears have some pretty good special teams this season - good kicking AND good return schemes. So this is a possibility, especially if we hire Rivera and he brings the Bears' current special teams coach with him to Dallas.

If Norv is the Head Coach then I would bet he brings along Joe. He was with him in Oakland. When he was coaching there I actually got to meet him at his sons bar in Lewisville I think its called Hat Trick.. Well it was Joes Bday and they had this guy there singing named Stoney Larue.. I dont expect many of you to know him but hes pretty good.. Back to the story He was a very nice guy talked to everyone and gave plenty of signatures. Moose was there along with Zimmer... Let me tell you one thing though his wife has had one to many face lifts WOW she looks like the lady off of Something about Mary. :lmao: ... Very nice guy but we dont need to many of those old coaches around. New faces for a new team.....
