Anyone really really down on Barber should go back and re-watch the first Giants game week 2.

I did the other week when NFL Network replayed it. I was surprised at how quick Barber looked. His last run to set up our go ahead TD was awesome. He made a real quick side step of a tackler at the LOS and raced 35 yards. Of course that was the play he pulled his quad.

I just think he still brings plenty to the table.
Should Felix start? Yes.
Should Felix get as many or more carries than Barber and Choice together? Yes
Is Barber over paid? Yes.

But I still think he's a valuable player for us.

I think he is more than valuable. he is the same guy he has always been, he is an emotional leader on this team.

The difference in barber heading into this season as opposed to past seasons is just the over the top fans and medias perception of him.

In the past he was compared to julius jones so people turned him into walter payton out of their angst towards julius. Now he is compared to Felix, so they have turned him into kijana carter...which is absurd.

I think he is the same guy, I think the guys on the team love him and I think he brings energy and toughness to the team, then throw in the fact that I bet he is one of the smartest players on the offense and I see him as a huge asset.

The guy played with injuries, just like ware did all year. His numbers were down a little, just like demarcus, but the effort and the toughness and smarts were still there.

I think a healthy barber is an excellent player. My wish with him is that they would throw him the ball a little off of play action and really get him into that role.

I like all our backs, but this falling in love with choice and then in turn bagging on barber because he doesnt have felix's speed is wrong. They are all good.

If barber is healthy I want him and felix involved all the time. And I dont view marion barbers injuries the last two seasons as a result of him "wearing down" or "taking too much punishmnt" by any stretch. He pulled a muscle against the giants on a terrific run, in an atmosphere that was probably has hot and muggy as you will ever see in a Pro Football game. It was ridiculously humid in that place in week 2.

And it lingered seemingly all year and I cant for the life of me see why people hold that against him.

I look forward to a healthy marion barber kicking tail for this team.

Marion was in on 580 plays last year. In 2008, Barber had 720 snaps. So Barber's snaps went down considerably last year. He pretty much was in on 3/4 of the plays in 08 and just about 50% in 09. So the team has limited his snaps. Unfortunately that didn't keep him from wearing down, so I can see why the team might think he's at the tail end of his effectiveness.

I don't know exactly how he is viewed by Coach Parcells, but I do know he has been injured quite often. We know how an injury history is frowned upon by Parcells.

They also supposedly have been checking out Spiller as Brown's possible replacement. I think New England would take Brown for a second or third round choice they have burning a hole in their pockets.

All true statements right here, folks. Agreed with the NE thought.

I wouldn't trade him to a division opponent. I still respect Barber, and I don't want a healthy one running at my front 7, twice a year.

Ask the Eagles about how they liked Spencer hitting and sacking their franchise QB last year, over and over and over.

Ever since that injury he wasn't the same. Our guys were running wild over the Giants, Barber included, until he pulled up with the hammy.

im trying to confirm; anyone see this?

NFL Total Access just reported that Marion Barber is on the trading block. Have not yet been able to confirm this from other sources, but it was just reported this evening and they have more credibility with me than ESPN.

I just don't see the logic from the other teams perspective.

Why would you take on that contract with that production?

The contract is overboard yes, but he can produce when healthy. He averaged 4.4 YPC this year with a hurt quad, he's not horrible. Same avg as AP.

Yeah but this draft class is loaded with really good RB talent.

2010 NFL Draft Rumor: Are The Cowboys Considering Trading Marion Barber?
by Matt Miselis Written on March 29, 2010
Larry French/Getty Images The 2010 NFL Draft is a month away, as more NFL trade rumors begin to spread around the league.

Last week, the Donovan McNabb sweepstakes began, shaping up the NFC East in some shape or form.

Speaking of the NFC East, are the Dallas Cowboys ready to make an off season deal involving Marion Barber?

According to Charles Robinson, a Yahoo! senior writer, via his twitter, he believes a former NFC East Pro-Bowl running back could be dealt.

At first, you may think Clinton Portis. However, there is questions whether or not Portis has even more value in a trade then a Brian Westbrook in free agency.

Now, we turn to Marion Barber of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry Jones has said he prefers dynamic Felix Jones as the starter over Barber, who has faced injuries the past few seasons.

With such a deep draft class this year, the Cowboys may either want to add another first round pick, or add overall depth.

With needs at the offensive line (deep class) and cornerbacks (Joe Haden, Kyle Wilson), don't be surprised for the Cowboys to entertain offers, and see a team bite for Barber's services.

Whether the Cowboys are even considering this move remains to be seen. However, with a rare draft class like the one we have in 2010, Dallas may make it's first move of this quiet off season by moving Barber and gaining some future talent in the process.

Matt Miselis is an NFL writer for BleacherReport.com. He will be covering the 2010 NFL Draft for the next month, so look for more articles coming up.

With that logic (and I don't disagree) why should Dallas keep taking on that contract with that production?

Seems far too many want to hold on to what MBIII once was; an effective, gritty, inspirational RB, and not what he has become; a gritty, inspirational RB who is effective when completely healthy. Problem is he hasn't been completely healthy for long stretches for a couple of seasons.

I just don't see the guy magically becoming durable on the level that can be counted on game in and out.
