Trading Leary, Romo, McFadden.......is there a new NFL policy that says no team, under any circumstance, can have significant quality depth?

I mean dang, just as soon as we discover that the team has two good players ar the same position, some folks can't wait to toss one of them out . Considering the devastation created by a plague of injuries over the past few years I would think Cowboy fans would be a tad clingy towards the team's talent pool.

I think that a TE, more than any other skill player, has to depend on a QB's willingness to utilize them. I think its a more special relationship because QB 's depend on them in tight spots. They have to be really familiar with a QB's style. Romo's guy was always Witten.
Troy Aikman really depended on Jay Novacek.

Dak has to find his guy. Apparently it isnt going to be Escobar. It could very well be that part of Osweillers struggles has to do with not having that dependable emergency go to guy.

I would make Houston pay, a 5th or maybe even a 4th would be my price.

Depth vs. getting a starter or even a rotation player on D? Give me the player. Especially because the depth guy may as well be inactive on game days in this case.

I'm seeing the usual suspects applying the typical "nothing to see here people!" routines.

Some people can take both the good and the bad, while some people can't.
Every trade thread is "nothing to see here" unless it's actually being discussed by the two teams involved.

Actually, we're referring to the fact that Escobar is a bust rather than the possible trade talk. Some people can accept that fact, while others still can't.

I was under the impression this was a trade Escobar to Houston thread.

It is. But we're also discussing the why of Escobar being traded. And the fact that if he had any value to the Cowboys, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

As I said, some people can handle that fact, while others can't.

There's actually this really special TE position that Jason Witten plays. No one else plays it other than Escobar, and he can't get on the field because Jason Witten already plays it. Those other guys play a different position that Escobar isn't capable of playing. No, sir. He can't do that James Hanna and Geoff Swaim stuff -- not because he isn't as good as those guys -- but because of this magical other position that Jason Witten plays. They're completely different! Witten can't do Hanna and Swaim stuff either.

It's like comparing free safety to long snapper. You would never expect Byron Jones to do what Ladouceur does. That's why Escobar isn't REALLY a bust and you guys just don't actually get it.

Escobar seems to be hiding in the jungles of Columbia with his namesake. LOL

He's truly the forgotten man in this offense.

Escobar will do great in an offense that will actually use him. See Marty B. I have no idea why they do not use him more seeing when they finally did in 2013, he went off for huge numbers. Then we put him back on the shelf and he was never seen from again. He has talent. We just are married to Witten until he decides to retire. I don't like it at all. Seeing as we spent a 2nd rd pick on him when TE was the least of our worries for that draft. We love getting TEs in here that we will never use at all. I'll never understand it.

I agree, but I can see how the problem developed. Years ago there was a constant stream of people claiming inside info and would try to use it in arguments. Much of it was obvious fantasy.

I agree X. I am sure you realize my comment wasn't directed AT you. It was a general statement about the chilling effect that some posters have on other posters. Some things which are posted are obviously so far outside what would be considered the norm that you could say they will never happen. I can see a bit harsher stance taken on those types of
Not his fault.

Actually it is his fault because he doesn't appear to block very well.

I don't know why they don't use him more in the redzone. I get it that they want to use Bease more between the 20s but I rather see Escobar out there instead of TWill in the redzone.

He is a big target with good hands and he was very good in the redzone two years ago when they used him. He had 9 reception on 13 targets and 4 were for TDs. He had a couple of games where all he was doing was catching TDs and then they just stop using him for some reason.

funny...how many former TEs of ours have gone on to productive careers elsewhere....Bennett....Fasano....Escobar will be next.
He's a good player but not a great blocker like we want our TEs to be. Another team will plug him and just have him running routes. He has very good hands and I suspect he'll be a gem of a find for another team...he's just not going to get time or looks with us.

Clowney is trash. I said it before the draft, and I'll say it now. I wouldn't trust this guy with the game on the line. He just doesn't have the heart to play football, not one that matches his tremendous skill set.
I'm not a big fan either. Way overrated to me
