He is a criminal and should be arrested for stealing. Either that or play for free next year.
From where we sit - yes.. Stop Thief!!!!!!

From where a limited time window player sits. 1 million, 2 million, 3 million.... No a problem.
The problem being the medical staff failed to pick up the injury before the tag was made.

All I can remember is one good year out of Spencer his contract year and then the Cowboys paid him a freaking fortune by tagging him. There were other players that got paid half of what Spencer did and were much more effective. I have those bad memories in my head of over paying vets like him and suffering badly on other parts of our team and having miserable years. Get rid of him!

The good news is, aside from Murray, we haven't lost any star players yet. We've only lost menial to average (Parnell, Durant, Harris, maybe Moore, Melton, maybe Spencer, Selvie, possibly Carter, McClain is slightly above average). But the other problem is, if we wait too long, we'll only be able to replace the menial players we lose with other menial players. Our problem last year was that our defense lacked talent. There might not be any talent left lying around by the time we decide to start filling cracks in the ship.

Its not exactly like we have a lot of star power to lose. They've been locked up.

Good post man. I really hoping they are taking a hard look at Hardy and go for him. We can't have a bunch of second tier players on defense or we won't be going anywhere. Seattle and GB are sitting pretty right now. Not sure how we are going to be able to compete with them unless we improve our defense.

If they let Spencer go we will be sorry. Right now we have only Mincey as a proven player outside although I think Lawrence will be solid or better. I don't get all the Spencer hate. Stop listening to people and watch the tape. When he is healthy there are few SDEs who are better. He's just getting healthy.

I expect 5-6+ sacks from the guy this year and continued stellar play against the run.

I'll catch grief for this but when he was well AND Ware was not playing the run, he was the better end OVERALL.

I approve of this post.

Spencer was overrated against the run. I sure wont miss him running 5 yards straight up field leaving a gaping hole off tackle.

It's just fashionable to hate any Cowboy if the leave or are looking at other possibilities. Just the way it is.

We are screwed if we keep having to fill holes

No major holes have been created yet, although we have lost some depth.

We lost a backup tackle in Parnell (Weems takes his place), a starting/backup linebacker in Durant (Lee takes his starting place, although Rivers technically takes his roster spot) and a kick returner/4th receiver (not sure about the plan there, but Harris wasn't a world beater last year).

We might lose Melton (who was depth to Crawford).

We might lose Spencer (same with Selvie), but I think LDE is one of the spots we planned to upgrade.

We might lose Moore, but it's possible he wouldn't have kept his spot as the third corner over Claiborne anyway. But we could definitely use a depth upgrade there as well as at some of these other positions. (I would have preferred that we kept some of this depth, but you can't pay everyone what it would take to keep them.)

Now, if we lose Murray and both Carter and McClain, there'll be reason to be concerned depending on how we handle it.

They all do that some but getting trapped too often is just poor execution. Spencer is a good SDE.

Hhhmmm. So he's one of the better SDEs, and you expect him ONLY to give us 5 or 6 sacks this year? I think you made my argument for me.

I said 5-6+. But 5-6 is not chicken feed for a SDE.

George Selvie, a 7th-round pick, gave us 7 in 2013. Was he among the best pass rushers? You're looking for 5-6+ from first-round draft choice Spencer this year, and you're calling him one of the better SDE in the league? There must be some very pedestrian pass rushers in the league if single-digit sacks set the bar.

What is the league average for a SDE? And again you seem to be unable to read. 5-6+ means more than 5-6 sacks. That's the bottom not the max. It means 7 to ?? sacks. And I should have never even put sacks up there for someone to seize on. It's pressures that you're looking for and Spencer has always been solid there when healthy.

Spencer never lived up to his draft status outside of 8 games a few years back, time for Dallas too move on from him.

Here we go with the insults. I read just fine. Seven sacks. Big whoopee!
Yeah, you shouldn't have put sacks because it hurts your arguments. But even if I concede "pressures" that stat still doesn't help Spencer's case - or the one you're trying to make for him. Let's see, did he pressure Aaron Rodgers into a bad throw or an interception? Whistling while I wait for an answer. No!!!!
Spencer is average at best, especially based on his draft ranking. If he stays, I'm fine with that, as long as we find someone who can actually GET to the quarterback instead of just breathing on him. But if he's exploring other options, let him explore. I hope he's as successful as Christopher Columbus was. :)

Telling you you can't read what I wrote in a post is not an insult. That's you trying to deflect from the conversation. I come here for discourse not aggravation and disingenuous arguments. Have a good day.

Uh, yeah, it is. It implies comprehension difficulties. That's how most people use the phrase. If you had wanted to truly take the high road you would have said something like "maybe I haven't made myself clear. Let me see if I can do a better job."
Be that as it may, I disagree with you. You think Spencer is the best SDE in the league. I don't. I don't think he's anywhere near being the best in the league. I shared why. You're trying to make an argument for him. I'm shooting down your argument. Hence your need to interject something about my reading comprehension.
You could have simply said "We'll have to agree to disagree" and be done with it. But, in typical Internet fashion, you hurl an insult, feign as if you didn't, then take your marbles and go home. Well, bye. :)
