Breaking Down the ‘Boys: Victor Butler will break out against Bears if Anthony Spencer is out

Troy Hambrick anyone...

So the Bears will now run straight at Victor Butler, who has shown to be very weak against the run.

Perfect.

I think we game plan this as moving Ware around to the strong side as much as possible. That's weird but Butlers getting run over otherwise

Well I've always thought if it meant getting another pass rusher on the team that can actually get to the QB, I wouldn't mind seeing more of Ware on the strongside.

I know some here are stat counters and worried about how many sacks Ware gets in a season and the strong side might hurt that, but I would rather win more ballgames than worry about how many sacks Ware got. Butler is actually a much better fit on the weakside, whether we admit it or not, and might could put up 8-10 sacks in a season there.

Definitley does not HELP...but should not matter. Next man up. Ravens been playing without Terrell Suggs all year. Steelers been playing without Harrison and Polamalu all year. If you want to develop a culture like winning organizations have....then you line and play with who you got. And as an organization...you should EXPECT whomever you put in the game to get the job done.

Baltimore? They have been poor thus far on defense, and aren't getting a lot of sacks. Not a very good example. The Steelers aren't getting a lot of sacks either (less than Balt.) though they have still been effective defensively (though a big part of that is from playing the Jets).

Baltimore has been poor on defense but they are still winning. You are misunderstanding what the poster you responded to is getting at. He's saying teams like the Steelers, Ravens, Giants lose key players all the time but continue to win and move forward and not using it as an excuse. I would like to see the Cowboys have this attitude as well. Not caring who is out on the field don't get beat making excuses for it and just roll over.

run right run right. McCray and butler trying to stop them from running:banghead: The reason why seahawks gashed us. Butler and McCray gave up containment way too often.

Butler did fine against the run last week, it was just 1 drive but still he did pretty good when given the chance

lets hope butler and wilber can contain the run on that side. The bears with forte has got to be licking their chops hearing this news. Lets hope butler plays a statement like game. Proving he is a starter in this league and not a specialist. I would love for wilber to show something.

Is albright still injured?

They're now saying on The Fan that Spencer will play.

So which is it?

are they winning? Next man up....means next man up...goal is still to WIN! Not start seasons 1-7 because your QB has been knocked out for the season! Teams like Dallas mail it in because the culture is ALL wrong. Jason Garrett steps in and we "decided to play"....and we were more competetive down the stretch. But 1-7 happened because the culture in Dallas stinks!

Do you recall Vince Young actually looked like an NFL QB against us?

Do you recall David Garrad had a perfect QB rating in the 1st half against us.? And I think they had 35 points at halftime! Romo did NOT play defense!

Victor Butler-- this is your wake up call-- time for a big time game.

Well now we will actually get to see life without Spencer, should be interesting to see Butler and perhaps maybe Wilber active if healthy.

Should be a good test to see if we can in fact let him walk after the season without a high pick to replace him.

Wilbur needs to step up and make some plays this game to help me stop crying over the loss of Brandon Boykin, haha.

We will see, although it is a bit early for him to make an impact. He was going to be developmental when we drafted him, but we really could use some hope out of him for the future so we can at least think we can replace Spencer in house.
