I'm hearing them talking about Michal Irvin, Parcells. Did I miss the Spencer interview or is it coming up?

Didn't say much of anything. He did say that his goal is to become the starter, and hinted that the sooner, the better. He's excited abou this defense because of its aggressiveness. Same questions, same answers. It lasted like two minutes.

...then it went to Irvin ripping into BP.

It's already over. Sorry, it was pretty short... And really, Spencer is kind of a boring interview. He's a nice, polite kid who doesn't expand on things too much.

He did say that he didn't even know about Ellis' injury (or pain) yesterday until his mom told him, and that one of his goals was to be the starting OLB anyway.

He also said he was excited to play in this defense, because he hadn't ever seen anything like this that attacked the QB so much but could still stop the run.

That was about it. :eek::

I totally expect Spencer to be the starter from now on, the best hope for Ellis is to be able to contribute in pass rush situations and to give the starters a breather. But thats not a given due to his injury.

Yeah, reports are Ellis isn't looking too good. Noticeable limp? Yikes...

The limp is from bursitis, inflamation of little cushiony sacs all over the body, this one in his foot.

and the training staff says that is exactly what you'd expect for a guy coming off this injury.

We need Ellis to make this team what we all hope it will be. If he can't do it, we're in big trouble having to place everything on Spencer including pass defense at times. Am hoping bursitis flareup will gradually lessen and he'll be okay and make major contribution this year along with Spencer.

Nothing about him not looking good (as in poor play)... just that he has a little flair up of bursitis and that it is making him limp a little.

Unfortunately for Commander fans... Ellis will be available to play the preseason and season. Unfortunately (again) for Commander fans... Ellis is likely to be used sparingly on passing downs this year because Spencer is expected to be much better and to take his OLB spot.

Ellis should see duty along the DL and at OLB some.

This is why I say I don't think Bradie is that smart. He loves to talk, but he goes off in 100 directions and barely even knows what he's saying. He just doesn't express himself very well.

Maybe that means nothing, but I tend to think it does when it comes to understanding the game at an NFL level.

I heard that too but I did not get that impression myself. Let's see how this all pans out.

I know it means nothing in regards to "Football Smarts", but you DO know that he graduated a year early from LSU with honors?

I listened to an interview with him 2 years ago where the host commented how well-spoken he was. He said that instead of clubbing with the other players, he felt it was more important to study and learn to speak the language with authority...

It remains to be seen whether or not he can be our MLB, but his "smarts" is not an issue...
