I'm pulling for Spencer to come back and contribute this year. Most people on this board don't have the heart or toughness to work their way back from a significant injury like his, yet they sit back and post negative comments as if they have. Similar to the Lee threads, I'm amazed at how "fans" turn on these guys as soon as they aren't able to help the team on the field. Ironically, they suffered their injuries while laying it on the line for the very people who have turned on them. I'm tired of reading it.

These pro players are laying it on the line for money. They are not hitting the field with you , me or anybody else as their main concern. It may hurt your feelings, but these guys don't care for fans in the way that you think. Wait till contract time and see how much they love you if the money is not there. I am sure they appreciate fans cheering for them, but be honest with yourself. These players are not busting their tails and risking injury for you. They are doing it because of money. If Jerry doesn't pay enough, they will go elsewhere. In the real world, you will find that you are involved in a one way love affair.

It cracks me up that people waste time posting about Spencer if they believe he is done.
If you believe that ignore his threads and move on.

hey, any opportunity to get a snarky comment in. :)

Is it limping due to pain or because that leg has lost muscle definition? The leg hadn't been able to be used and flexed properly in months... I would think that would lead to limping.

I hope it is not the case, but the limp may not go away. The surgery that he had may never allow him to walk without a limp. I don't think the chances of him recovering are that good considering the type of injury that he has. I hope it is not the case, but IIRC this is one of the worst knee surgeries with a low percentage of recovery.

Bold prediction: he's our Ed Block Courageous Player award winner and ends the year with almost 10 sacks!

Remember Greg Ellis?

he also was a #1 pick for us and he severely broke his leg I believe.

Many thought he was finish or at the least greatly diminished.

But over time he again became our leading sacker.

I think Spencer will come back eventually.

But it will take some time.

In the meantime..

we have the right DC and alot of bodies to play the D-line.

LBers is where I think we are short and safety.

I don't know. I would think that if it was pre-surgery painful we would have heard.

One way or another, we'll find out.

How bout you ignore the posts from those people and you yourself move on

If they start threads entitled so that I know that's the content it would get ignored.
People willfully post the same thing every time Spencer is brought up.
If he doesn't play who cares whether he plans to play at 250 or 290, whether he plans to wear track shoes or cleats.

Complete... waste... of... time.
Unless you believe he is going to play again.

I don't necessarily care about his sack numbers, either. I think in the newer scheme, and with Melton, most of our sacks are going to come from pressure in the middle of the line from the 1T and 3T.

I want what you want -- some solid defense on the backside against cutback runs and on the strong side.

I agree with you. I'd love to be able to sit here and say our defense is atleast 10th in the league in sacks. Or is getting consistent pressure on the QB. I'd accept that even. Individual stats.....I could care less.

I think this year I would just like to see our defense crack the Top 20 list in total defense.

He has his surgery in October. By now they should have a good idea of how the superclot worked to regenerate cartilage. He has not had a set back.

It's one thing to withhold hope but the revelry in failure that goes around here is sickening.
Agreed. I hate a defeatist mentality. Why fight? We are going to lose anyway...smh.

That is a two way street. Some can't resist the totally unrealistic , sunny comments.

some, but if i hit "show ignored content" i can see all kinds of snarky comments against a player that's simply nothing more than getting a shot in to try and sound clever. it simply well reminds me why i put most of those on ignore. nothing to offer but LOOK AT ME I INSULTED A PLAYER! I RULE!!!

pass.

Agree.

My un-educated guess is that if the surgery did not accomplish anything then we/Spencer would have known by now.

Not saying everything is perfect with the knee, but if it was a total clusterfudge that knee would probably be "telling" him so by now.

I agree with this somewhat unless he is pulling a Ratliff and trying to convince the team that he is good enough to deserve a contract and then pull the injury card. God that still aggravates me :(

I'm definately hoping he's able to comeback strong this year and give us some of that help we need.

I'm not too sure i believe it's going to happen though.

interesting if spencer can play the strong side below 260lbs than D-Law should be able to man the weakside at @255lbs (im sure he can gain 4lbs in a couple months).
