Come on, rankings are nonsense to begin with...Totally irrelevant, a ranking and a quarter will get you some bubble gum

They talk ish about Roy but yet they still put him in the top 5.

If people didnt remember how good he once was there is no way he'd be getting top 5 accolades.

It is just the NFC though.

Wow! That's a ton of respect for our safeties.

Just to keep it in perspective, they ranked the corners last week.

We were #5 in the NFC overall behind Philly, Green Bay, Seattle I think, can't recall the other. We had no one as a Top 5 CB in the NFC (1. Trufant 2. Asante. Clements & Winfield were in there, I forget the 5th) And those rankings included offseason acquisitions/draft picks. It was pretty far off in my opinion.

That's an understatement.

"Come see the Sporting News overrate Ken Hamlin" Would also have been an appropriate title for this thread. :)

I think that's a bit unfair. Hamlin played like a top-tier FS last year, and he essentially returned to his old form after finally getting healty. I thinkk SN got these rankings spot-on.

What's disappointing is thar Roy Williams is ranked #5, and fairly so. It's disappointing because he's paid and coddled like he's better. And although top-5 in the conference is good, Roy should be better than #5. Hopefully he climbs a few nothes this season.

Two out of the top five and our groups is only #2? Is Darren Shaper *that* much better than anyone else?

(I still wish we'd drafted Tyrell Johnson.)

That does it, I'm leaving the treehouse and creating a Ken Hamlin Myth Thread! :)

Ok -- honestly -- how many of you would take LaRon Landry over Roy Williams?

Roy Williams is still surving off his college and 1st two years in the NFL... He's no where near the player he used to be.

Disagreed. You could argue he should have been #1 over Sharper.

Or you could argue that he missed too many tackles leading to alot of extra yards, wasn't excellent in coverage and got alot of "fly ball" interceptions. Maybe that's all it takes to be #2 in the NFC, I don't know for sure. I'm not saying he's bad, just I'm not as enamored with him as most.

:hammer:

without them telling us how or why they ranked teams and players this why i can't accept ratings of players based off of personal opinion there is always a bias somewehre.
