I would like for us to lean more this way going forward.

-----------------------------

When coach Chip Kelly took over as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he introduced “sports science” to the players.

The notion of “sports science” revolves around nutrition, proper sleep, conditioning … things that will help keep players healthier.

The players who were with the Eagles last season are all-in with the concept.

“The guys who have been here have gotten used to what the pace is, what to expect,” safety Nate Allen told the Philadelphia Daily News’ Rich Hofmann. “That's normal for us. Playing fast is a normal pace for us. The rookies, it took a little while to get used to it. But now everybody's coming along … I feel healthy [in Year 2]. I feel not as worn out sometimes. When you get into this OTA regimen -- we just feel fresh every day and not as run down. We get the right rest and nutrition, and that all plays a big part in it.”

The Daily News reported that during the season, the Eagles had 14 players who started every regular-season game. That was more than any other NFL team.

Me, too.

I like that Chip Kelly, a lot. I hate that he's in PHI.

What?! Proper nutrition, enough sleep?! Man that guy over there is a mad man. Here I thought the Cowboys regimen of Mcds and partying till 3am every night was the league standard! We really should look into getting a nutrition specialist soon or else we can kiss this season goodbye.

This is pretty much the standard. An ordinary conditioning coach will tell you that.

Soon, Nick Foles will come back to earth and I will see Chip Kelly's super ultra modern ways of coaching his team.

It actually is revolutionary. It throws out a lot of the old school thoughts on conditioning, reps, etc. I remember in pee wee football, they wouldn't allow frequent water breaks because they thought it toughened us up. Turns out, that type of thinking not only harms productivity, it is dangerous.

Those old school thoughts have been gone for 15 years at least in every level of football. Not like he's the first coach in the game to try these things.

Obviously, Chip Kelly isn't a scientist inventing new products and theories. He is applying them better than most of the league.

What a joke. He is doing nothing different then the rest of the NFL. This reminds me of Tony Dungy. "Mike, you need to stop fighting dogs." Then the next week they run a 1 hour special of how Tony Dungy is the greatest mentor in the history of the US.
