I live in Washington. So I listen to I-Heart for the ticket, and Radio App to listen to The Fan. It amazes me at the small amount of time that I get Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys. Today for instance early on The Fan, they had a segment with Ian Rappaport . They talked about the Eagles for 10-15 minutes. I hear more small talk about absolutely nothing, and more commercials about Baby Dolls, Pluckers, and EDD than I do about the Boys. On the local ESPN Seattle station here, it's 95% Seahawks all day long. Everyday, all day, It's coaches , players, ex-players, analysts, callers, and hosts who talk nothing but Seahawks. I hate most of them. And I can't stand it. But you would think that's how it would be for us: No BS talk about what's trending on YouTube, or talk between hosts about 80's movies and Sausage fests. I don't want to listen about QB controversies in DC, or how bad the third team DL is in Philly. I want to know everything there is, hear every opinion there is, from people who have knowledge about Americas Team. I want to hear from The Triplets, Woody, Bill bates, and The Shark. I want to hear old stories from Roger or Danny White. How about 54, 80, or 94. There should be enough Cowboys talk, past and present, to fill up airtime for the next. 25 years.

I know this is kinda of ranting. But I'm really just wanting to know if y'all feel the same way about Dallas radio. Or, is it just cause I'm bombarded everyday by all this Seahawk crap. And bad Dallas Sports Talk Radio.

The Ticket is usually very Cowboys focused on Mondays. Though, I'm to the point that I flat can't listen to the radio anymore. It's just too many commercials.

On that note, does anyone have any good Cowboys podcasts? Or just NFL ones?

In your example you referenced ESPN radio in Washington, but Dallas has the same thing on its ESPN station. It's sports all day with very little about anything else. Thats fine to listen to if its just a short car drive and you want to hear all the recent news or thoughts. I spend hours at a time in front of a radio and there's only so much I can take when listening to the same topics over and over. I like the sports mixed in with moments of humor. The fan and the ticket are probably both 50-50 sports/off topic, but thats fine by me as long as the shows are entertaining.

Basically if you want nonstop local sports, ESPNDallas is about your only option and frankly the opinions of the hosts on those shows are as useful as belly button lint.

Yeah. I have a real hard time with just 100% sports talk. The Ticket was nice when I still liked listening to the radio since it was a nice mix and they were personalities that I actually cared about and wanted to hear their opinions. As soon as someone goes "generic sports talk" and starts answering phone calls from fans, I'm out. I can't do it.

I usually flip between the ticket in the morning and the fan in the afternoon. Ben and Skin have always been some of my favorites and really get some of the absolute best inside stuff fans will get. I've actually noticed the ticket and the fan differ on commercial breaks most of the time so I just flip back and forth.

Any experience with any of these? The normal national talking head stuff is pretty annoying. It's just generic talking points without any real insight into anything specific. Any of these actually worth the time, you think?

I think I'm to the point in my life where listening to people who spend less time paying attention to the team than I do just isn't going to do it for me anymore. Considering how many hours I spend reading/talking about the Cowboys, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone like that.

I also agree with the OP. I turn off the radio when they start blathering about pop culture, social media and their personal lives. I tune in for sports.

I couldn't agree more. Been saying this for a while now. These shows leave thirsting for more Cowboys talk.

The OP is 100% correct. Dallas sports talk radio is horrible. Ive had Cowboy fans tell me "The Ticket" is the once to listen too and the few times I listened it was nothing but nonsense about movies and diaper changing and anything else non Cowboy related.

Dallas sports radio is so bad I can honestly say I long for the good ole days of Randy Galloway. And that is pathetic!

The Fan is good pregame and The Ticket is good post game. Other than that I don't listen. I hear dallascowboys.com is starting their own pregame show one hour before kickoff starting with Atlanta tomorrow if you listen to Internet shows.

The only team on the Ticket that talks sports the whole time is Norm with Donnie Do now. On ESPN you have Dennis and Frito that talk football quite a bit. More than most of the stations. The Fan is all over the place much like the Ticket. Another issue I have always had with the ticket is they have 10 miunte commercials in between segments!! Thats how they can afford to pay such high salaries I gather!!

TV is getting the same way. I swear the shows are getting shorter and there are more commercials every year.

I feel your pain. All I hear on the radio is Denver Broncos crap and more crap. And then when we don't get Broncos crap rammed down our throats we hear about the division. I miss Collin Cowherd at least he was funny. Mike and Mike are decent at best. Dan Patrick is awful!! I can't stand him. And la st but not least the Jim Rome show. ..how someone hasn't punched him in the nuts by now is beyond me.

The radio sports talk have been horrible in DFW area for years. for the most part. I moved here in 1998. And though I traveled a lot, I could still listen over the past 5 years with the apps on my phone.
For some reason the ESPN app won't broadcast the 103.3 station, but I haven't checked it in the past year or so.

The Ticket and The Fan for both having been, and are now the flagship station for the Cowboys, absolutely sucked.
OP is correct, should be more coverage, and good coverage, not the whining that they do a lot of. I can understand taking a break from it. Have some other issues to talk about, some of it is fine. Breaks it up, but it's too much. And yes, the commercials are too many.

But also, they need to talk about hockey, Basketball, and baseball. But they spend way to much time on golf, and it's always about tiger Woods. I hate golf and I hate Tiger Woods talk. One guy is a cyclist, so he shoves the tour de France as well as his local bicycling stories....***...who cares.

The Fan, morning hosts, Jets fan, Commanders fan, and they try to talk Cowboys?
ESPN was hit or miss, I haven't listened to it for a while. So won't comment on it as of now. However, when Randy Galloway was on, horrible, pathetic. But when Irvin and Nate were on it, that was good stuff.

I don't listen to it nearly as much as what I used to, but try to catch it for a little bit each day. I need to listen to get their routines down again, as to know when to tune in and tune out.

The Ticket, not as good as it used to be. But I like it better than the others. The Fan, tries to be like the Ticket used to be, but never can pull it off. When they try to be funny with some schtick if doesn't come off as well. They will never top fake Jerry or Fake Irvin, they even had fake Parcels, and now Fake Jason.

They are bearable, once you know when to tune in and out. They cover too much of one thing, not enough on others, like the rookies and how they are doing, especially in TC.
But also, can you really listen to it all day long, they don't have that much to cover do they?

But they all can improve...a lot...

I heard on the radio of all things...

That the BBC started broadcasting in the UK during this week... it was like '53 I think.

Anyway commercials were limited to 6 minutes per hour.

And there was no broadcasting done on Sunday morning.

I agree. The fan is garbage and I don't care for any of the shows. WIP in Philly is all Eagles all the time. Dallas doesn't have a station like this as much as I like the ticket. The fan is lame and corny IMO. I wonder is one of the reasons the fan is so bad is because the personalities aren't Cowboy fans? I mean one of them is a Commander fan. Type of mess is that? You will never get a Cowboy fan hosting a show on WIP or 980 in Washington.
