I agree with this. They were a fraud playoff participant last year and would have gotten smoked in the wild card round if that game was in New Orleans.

I would not be surprised at all if they take a step back in year 2 of Chip Kelly.

I also don't believe in Nick Foles. I don't think I ever will until he's hoisting a Lombardi.

I don't see them as a powerhouse in the NFC overall, but I do see them as the current best team (pre-draft) in the NFC East.

In this division, the way things are going, they could take two steps back and still be in the thick of things.

The NFC East has never been this weak, but they at least are not just settling for following the pace car.

When I see what they did in year 1 with an " unproven " QB who was not even their starter at the beginning and still won the East!?!?!? They resigned all the players they wanted to, plus are adding, they are getting better. Meanwhile, back at the ranch....................

Exactly.

But some want to cover their eyes to these facts.

What gap? They barely won the division on the last game of the season against a band aid bound together team (us)and that's with a QB playing WAAAAAY over his head most of the season...some of you buy into that eagle hype every year

That one. And they did it after starting 3-5, finishing the season 7-1 and beating us at our house. I will say that the Cowboys played them oddly well last year compared to what you would expect from their results against other teams, so maybe we have some head to head advantage. I think it's clear they have the superior team now and I don't see how adding a dynamic player that fits into exactly what they do doesn't make them better.

Am I alone in feeling sort of indifferent to this move? The guy will be 31 before the season starts... was totally ineffective in the return game this past season... was deemed unworthy of his salary by Sean Payton in an offense that was equally perfect for him.

Also, the touches he gets come at the expense of McCoy's touches. Sproles is no more dangerous. Obviously it's another element and also protects them in case McCoy goes down, but is 18 touches for McCoy and 7 for Sproles necessarily worse than 25 for McCoy?

I have the same feelings to be honest. Sproles taking away carries from Mccoy is a good thing IMO.

I'm not worried. Dallas has their own Sproles in the guy that was always injured, unreliable (fumbled), and who I can't remember his name.

Awesome!

Made me laugh out loud just now!

Here comes the annual "look out for the Eagles they made a bold move" movie.

They beat half a Dallas team by a few points last year to squeak into the playoffs and this on the heels of a season of historic luck injury wise. They are not that daunting and this midget rb isn't making them anymore terrifying.

Who's in better shape to win the division?

What team got better from last season and what team(s) got worse?

Don't let fandom override your common sense.

I don't see that there is a clear leader in the division

As I have said, some people see what they choose to see.

The Eagles have re-signed everyone they wanted to and just added Sproles for a surplus 5th round pick.

We just sent our best defensive player to Denver.

Whoever people want to see as the 'leader', it sure isn't our favorite team.

Apparently Sproles found out he was going to be traded on Twitter.

Stay classy, New Orleans.

Well, he did know he was being traded. Just not where. But then again, if someone told me, right now, I had to go work in Philadelphia, I might be upset as well.
