He did in year one what ours still can't.

Game. Set. Match.

We're done here.

It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the team being being pumped up due to the coaching change in general could it? Much like what JG did when he took over from Wade? Naaa, it couldn't possibly be that

Am I alone in feeling sort of indifferent to this move? The guy will be 31 before the season starts... was totally ineffective in the return game this past season... was deemed unworthy of his salary by Sean Payton in an offense that was equally perfect for him.

Also, the touches he gets come at the expense of McCoy's touches. Sproles is no more dangerous. Obviously it's another element and also protects them in case McCoy goes down, but is 18 touches for McCoy and 7 for Sproles necessarily worse than 25 for McCoy?

Thanks, you talked me in off the ledge.

Ah...the occasional "praise one or all of our division rivals while trashing our own team" thread.

Par the course for this fan base.

I like Sproles as a player but the Eagles already had one of the best RBs in the league before this trade occurred. To be honest...I'm not too worried about the Eagles. Their vaunted offense struggled against our pathetic defense last year and if Romo played in the finale I've no doubt we win the division.

Screw the Eagles.

We only had 3 players on defense on week 17. Even I can QB a team to beat 3 players. May I add a 2nd reason. Our QB wasn't playing. A 3rd? We beat them earlier at their place. More....we wont have the aged leaders of THAT Dline. You know our offense can be pretty good too. You are a fan of this team I believe..or you were at one point. And remember the free agent signing period is in day 3 now.

Looked like more than 3 out there to me. And now that Ware has been released, does that leave us with 2?

Will our QB be better or worse after back surgery?

Yeah, we did inexplicably beat them earlier. Still can't figure out the Foles I saw on that day. But it sure wasn't the guy I saw get the NFL record for touchdown passes in a game.

And apparently, we won't have ANY leaders from that D-line. Good, bad, and ugly.

I will always be a fan, I'm just currently not an optimistic one.

Or one blinding myself to reality.

But thanks for the attempt to cheer me up, I appreciate it.

Its not just the coaching change. Maybe because of where I live, I see and hear but the whole sports science thing that Kelly has implemented has done wonders. They had minimal injures and when December rolled around, players raved about how great they felt and never have felt this good, that late in the season in their entire careers. Meanwhile, back at the ranch..it's a process...

No worries. Garrett will be gone and in 2 years, Romo will be cut and we can still talk about 1 playoff win in 20 years...

Seriously? So your lame theory is that they went 7-1 on sheer adrenaline then?

Wow!

Again, don't let your fandom override your brain.

That is a very nice pickup for them and will make them a better team.

Nice move by philly.

Yep, when you have a bottom tier defense one of the first positions you want to trade a draft pick for is another RB......had Jerry done this same move the board would be stringing up rope as we speak, but since it's the mighty eagles it's the greatest and swiftest move in the history of the NFL

they did this, this morning as well. Solid player with good size and starting history

Eagles signed CB Nolan Carroll to a two-year, $5.2 million contract.
It's a solid depth add for the Eagles secondary. We don't expect Carroll to beat out Cary Williams or Bradley Fletcher for a starting gig, but they could certainly do worse at the No. 3 outside corner spot (Brandon Boykin only plays inside). The 6'1/205 Carroll started 12 games for the Dolphins last year, grading out in the middle of PFF's cornerback ranks.

An opponent with a good defense would say that the Sproles move was nothing to worry about, HOWEVER....

Eagles keep adding speed and finding ways to put pressure on the opposing side of the ball. That is what Chip does. His "system" is pressure which most people do not get.

so you picked my post to quote, read into, and break down when I just commented, "nice move"?... yet there are so many more discussions in this post that are more in depth?

like i said... mind you it was only two words "nice move"

I pretty much agree with this. I've been a big Sproles fan since he was at K-State -- I remember a lot of debates on these boards about him versus Barber back after that draft -- but I don't think there's a lot of tread left on the tire.

Doesn't mean he can't kick our butt this year, though.

FWIW, I'm also with Risen in not being that impressed with the Eagles, especially Foles. I wouldn't be surprised if they take a step back this year, even if their overall trend is up. They were mainly the beneficiary of a terrible division, like we should have been.

Long long long way to go. Only 3 days into FA. So far the Eagles have resigned Kelce, Maclin, Jones, Cooper, Peters, added a starting FS, CB, Offensive Weapon, and 2 ST studs.

Still a lot of good depth players out there and then of course the draft will be interesting.
