One day after saying former Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Ratliff was focused on getting healthy to play next season, agent Mark Slough said there is a possibilty he could play in 2013.

Ratliff was partly released on Wednesday by the Cowboys after it was determined they he would not be healthy enough to play this season. Slough concurred with that sentiment during a conference call with reporters.

But he is now saying that Ratliff is not ruling out a return to the field.

"I'm saying that Jay is going to see Dr. Meyer in Philly next week (his surgeon) and if he gets a good report, I would not completely rule out his returning to the field sometime in 2013," Slough said.

Ratliff has not played in a game since last November because of surgery in December on his pelvic area that Slough said was far more severe than hernia surgery "purported" by the Cowboys. He said the prognosis was always a year-long recovery.
