Rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence knows he hasn’t made much of an impact yet for a guy drafted 34th overall in last year’s draft.

He has yet to record a sack and has only one tackle for loss in five career games.

“I’m feeling like it’s my time,” Lawrence said. “It’s time for me to show up, time for me to go out there and start making plays.

“I feel like I know the playbook well enough that I should be able to go out there, do my assignments, get after the quarterback or be a run stopper.”

“He’s coming along well,” veteran defensive end Jeremy Mincey said. “He’s going to be a really good player, he’s just got to learn some small details.”

I hope he can come on strong to close out the season but for the most part this has been a lost season for Lawrence with so much time missed in camp.

Now would be a good time.

Indeed....as someone said the other day, he looks light in the caboose. Powerful, effective edge rushing D.Ends in this league are built like a brick S-house in their lower torso, butt, etc... Suggs in Baltimore, DWare in Denver,etc....I think this kid is a little green and small. He needs to live in the weight room and blossom physically IMO.

Good on him but it's not really his time. He missed the installation period of the offseason. All that prep work at camp and the preseason. His time is next year.

It'd be great if he can do something now but it's not indicative of what kind of prospect he is if he doesn't.

I had very low expectations, and he's even failed those expectations. He's basically non-existent.

well we've still got a long way to go before we really know what he can/can't do but in 5 games you would think he'd have shown a flash or two. he's talking, now let's see him walking. i'll go from there.

Added coach Jason Garrett: “He’s getting better and better. He’s one of those guys that comes to work every day. He certainly has ability. He’s learning. He’s in a good environment with veteran players around him.

“He just needs to play more and hopefully we’ll give him a chance to do that as the season progresses.”

Pretty much what a lot of people have been saying.

I thought DLaw would show some type of flash, i wasnt expecting him to come in and take the league by storm, but an occasional sack or hurry....something to show he can do it once he gets it all down.
