He's better against the run than I ever imagined. I would highly consider him a first and second down player for right now. He has not exploded on passing situations, but on the rare occasion we have him on third and long, he seems to run stunts a lot and actually runs them well. That's a good sign. He looks like a new player who is thinking a lot pre-snap.

Rookie...
Injured...
No training camp...
5 games...
20 snaps per game - maximum...

Ridiculous and absurd expectations from the usual suspects
Unbelievable...

100% agreed. i have very little expectations for you this year because of this. i fully expect him to show something in the next two games though.

The instant gratification wing of the CowboysZone disagrees. After all, those are just excuses.....right?

lol..... Losing the time in camp for a rookie is big, much of the learning takes place there. It is hard to get into all out teaching mode during the season when time is so restrained.

I would think expectations of him would change after an 8 week setback.

I could understand either our second or third rounder nor offering much, but for both together to have almost no stats definitely doesn't meet expectations. Of course, that's not DLaw's fault.

Very happy that DLaw is not citing those as excuses for himself. That is a very good sign going forward.

I thought that when he did get on the field and play.. .he would do.. I don't know.. something... anything maybe. But nah, he hasn't done jack squat.

Indeed....as someone said the other day, he looks light in the caboose. Powerful, effective edge rushing D.Ends in this league are built like a brick S-house in their lower torso, butt, etc... Suggs in Baltimore, DWare in Denver,etc....I think this kid is a little green and small. He needs to live in the weight room and blossom physically IMO.

I whole-heartedly disagree with this 100%. In fact, I think his biggest issue is exactly the opposite. I think he has gotten too heavy and lost his explosion. He needs to trim down and regain that quick first step that was one of the main reasons we drafted him.

I think they should let him rush from a standing position on 3rd downs and see if it helps him get free.

Here is what was taken at DE in the draft. Feel free to compare.

1 1 Hou Jadeveon Clowney
1 23 KC Dee Ford
2 34 Dal DeMarcus Lawrence
2 46 Pgh Stephon Tuitt
2 60 Car Kony Ealy
3 72 Minn Scott Crichton
3 84 Ari Kareem Martin
3 88 Cin Will Clarke
4 108 Sea Cassius Marsh
4 136 Det Larry Webster III
5 141 Phi Taylor Hart
5 150 SF Aaron Lynch
5 159 Jax Chris Smith
5 160 Ari Ed Stinson
5 166 Ind Jonathan Newsome
6 177 Hou Jeoffrey Pagan
6 198 NE Zach Moore
6 210 NYJ IK Enemkpali
7 231 Dal Ben Gardner
7 234 Mia Terrence Fede
7 235 Oak Shelby Harris
7 249 STL Michael Sam

The draft wasn't much better at DT in my opinion. Outside of Rams DT Donald, not much production and Donald's production wasn't all that. Donald didn't do much the first half of the season and only started to show something of late. (I think) I still think we got the best DE in that draft and maybe the best DL from that draft going forward.

Next year, son.

One thing that clearly shows up when watching him is his violent hands. He shows good athleticism but just doesn't seem to have an idea of how to rush the passer.

If someone could take their game to another level on that DL it could be the push we need to put this team over the top.

I thought DLaw would show some type of flash, i wasnt expecting him to come in and take the league by storm, but an occasional sack or hurry....something to show he can do it once he gets it all down.

Yeah, any little thing we can get excited about.

Don't talk about it, be about it.

I'd rather he be saying, "It was time that I showed up."
