I was someone who got the expectations for Lawrence too high too early.

I heard someone make a great point about Zack Martin.

Through a regular season (16 games) + preseason (4 games), these rookies play two college years of football.

Lawrence has played in 5 games now. If we can make it to the playoffs, he might have a better shot at showing what he is capable of, but for now we're going to have to temper our expectations.

He has only played 147 snaps in the NFL. The Cowboys have played the 6th least amount of snaps on defense, so that also plays a part.

Rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence knows he hasn’t made much of an impact yet for a guy drafted 34th overall in last year’s draft.

He has yet to record a sack and has only one tackle for loss in five career games.

“I’m feeling like it’s my time,” Lawrence said. “It’s time for me to show up, time for me to go out there and start making plays.

“I feel like I know the playbook well enough that I should be able to go out there, do my assignments, get after the quarterback or be a run stopper.”

“He’s coming along well,” veteran defensive end Jeremy Mincey said. “He’s going to be a really good player, he’s just got to learn some small details.”

Like how Mincey is assuming a spokesman/leader role, and backing it up with his play.

people were saying the same about Ware after his first season .....

Thanks for the historical reference. The league hasn't seen the likes of Lawrence Taylor , who was a monster in his first season, for a long time.....

9.5 sacks rookie season ......

He was named 1981's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, making him as of 2013 the only rookie to win an Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year award

I haven't seen the point about Martin (I'm too lazy to read the whole thread) but I do know Zack Martin is awesome and Demarcus is not. If Lawrence doesn't show up in the next two games/post season, he is dead to me and I shall demand his firing.

I hope he can come on strong to close out the season but for the most part this has been a lost season for Lawrence with so much time missed in camp.

we need more from him, spencer and Melton. What has happened to Melton the last few games?
