Guard Brian Waters played 18 snaps on four series of work against the Chiefs in what was his first game in more than year.
After playing playing as a reserve in rotation with Mackenzy Bernadeau, Waters said he felt good and is ready for more action.
Ultimately, Waters said it's a coaches decision and he will do whatever is asked but chaffed at the notion that he needs to be eased back into action. Waters hasn't played since 2011 after sitting out all of last season before signing with the Cowboys Sept. 4.
"I got my feet wet the first play," Waters said "The first play was a field goal and they put three guys on me and hit m in the mouth. That is about as wet as its going to get . I knew I was back to football. Football is not a touch your toe in the water type game. You want to dive in. It's not one of those things where I want to crawl. I want to get out there. I want to get on the field running. I'm going to do what the coaches tell me to do."
Waters said he wasn't perfect Sunday as he had some ups and downs. He said he has a lot of things to work on, especially his footwork in the running game.
But he is getting back to that old football routine and that old feeling of playing football again.
"I'm don't know what my old self feels like," Waters said. "But I am getting that feeling you get when you are playing football. There is a feeling you get when you get in the routine of the NFL. You know where you want to be on Wednesday. You know where you want to be Thursday and Friday. I'm starting to get back in that definitely."
