Receiver Danny Coale said he sat out of practice Monday because of swelling in his left knee, where he had ACL surgery last season.

He said the swelling happened after the walk-through and wasn’t unexpected.

“Did I want it to happen? Obviously not. It’s just part of coming back from an ACL,” he said. “It’s a little swollen. Just have to be cautious with it. It’ll go down. I’ll be out there soon.”

Coale watched Tuesday’s walk-through with a wrap on his left knee.

“Everything’s been fine, responding really, really well, which is kind of abnormal,” he said. “Usually in that seven months, something would happen. Some swelling, something. It just happened the first day, for whatever reason. You can’t really pinpoint it. But we have it under control. It’s going down. The smart thing is just to wait for it to go down before I go back out there and compete again.”

Coale said he could be ready to go at any time if the knee is ready.

“It’s really day-to-day, kind of hour-to-hour, morning-to-afternoon,” he said. “We’ll see how it feels in the morning. If it feels good, the swelling’s down, let’s see what we can do in the afternoon.”
