For Jeff Heath, the 24-hour rule wasn’t quite enough to help him forget his performance against the New Orleans Saints.
“Maybe it was 48 hours in that situation because I know I played a bad game,” he said Wednesday at Valley Ranch.
The Cowboys rookie suffered through an anguishing night two weeks ago in the Superdome, missing tackles, getting stiff-armed and overpowered and losing track of a deep ball.
But he is still the starter as the Cowboys get set for their final six games, and he knows what he needs to take from that game.
“I learned as much as I could from it,” he said. “When you play a bad game, you want to forget it, but you also want to learn from it. It was also tough because we had the bye. If you have a bad game, you want to play another game as fast as possible – get it out of your memory. I’ve put it behind me. I’ll do better.”
Despite having started only the past three games, and having played on defensive in only five, Heath is eighth on the team in tackles with 33. He also has two pass breakups and one forced fumble.
