Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant has joined the Alzheimer’s Association in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Arlington on Saturday, October 5, at7:30 AM. The movement will be held at the Mavericks Activity Center on the campus of UTA.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a walk. It is an experience for participants in Arlington who will learn about Alzheimer's disease and how to get involved with this critical cause. From advocacy opportunities to the latest in Alzheimer’s research, participants will also learn about clinical trial enrollment, support programs and services. Each walker will also be a part of a meaningful ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Bryant has created his own Walk team – Team X in an effort to increase awareness and raise funds for the disease. Fans that join his team and donate a minimum of $25 will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game this season. They must be present to win. Bryant is asking all of his fans to show their support by donning their “88” jerseys and walking with Team X at the Arlington Walk.
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s. In addition to the two mile walk, participants will enjoy entertainment, food and a special tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s. To join Team X or start your own team visit www.alz.org/northcentraltexas.
