Sean Lee is disappointed and frustrated that he is likely not going to meet his goal of being healthy for all 16 games.

The Cowboys linebacker missed time in each of his first three years in the NFL because of injury, and if he can’t make it back from a hamstring injury in time for the game at the New York Giants in two weeks, it will be all four years.

“Extremely frustrating,” he said Sunday night in New Orleans. “For me, not being out there, I feel I’m letting people down, letting teammates down, letting the team down. Have to find a way – I’ve talked about it before – to stay on this football field. The only positive from a personal standpoint is I’ll be back from this. I’ll be healthy at some point pretty quick.”

Lee missed a game with a hand injury in 2011 and missed 10 games last year with a broken toe. He was rehabbing a knee injury when the Cowboys drafted him in 2010.

“I don’t want to miss any games,” he said. “I want to be out there as much as I can. But I try to do everything I can off the field to control it. it’s one of those deals where you have to find a way to overcome it and come back. That’s the only thought, is that I will be able to come back.”

Lee had three tackles when he went out after the first play of the Saints’ first series of the second quarter. He entered the game as the Cowboys’ leading tackler, with 112, and had four interceptions, also the high on the team.

He said he had a hamstring injury in college and remembers it being “extremely frustrating.”
