So let me get this straight, Jason Garrett is saying the team played hard for 60 min and never quit?

You got beat 30-0 in the second half.

Dam, those Eagles must be the second coming of Lombardi's Packers if they are so dominant that they totally rape you like that and you were playing hard every snap.

Getting best doesn't mean they quit.

That said, a head coach will never say his team quit. That's and indictment against him, not his players.

30 points let up in 2 qrters and the best thing he can say is he thinks they didn't quit.

Lol great. Sounds like a Super Bowl is in our cards!

I think it's a reflection upon both the coaching and the players as well, whenever a team has the success we did in the first half and fails as badly as we did in the second. It's likely fair to say there's plenty of blame to go around. It's probably also fair to give credit to the Eagles for performing as capably as they did in that second half, as well. Let's see if the upcoming games are much the same before casting judgment prematurely.

” Garrett said. “When you go back and look at some of those plays that they broke in the second half, and again I think more than anything else we’re just not being fundamentally sound.

So if you put players in a position where the team has to play perfect to win this is what happens. Players make mistakes on every team, every week. But the coach finds a way to cover for weaker players. There are teams that have brought offensive linemen off the street and still somehow won the game. JG can't cover for weaker players. There is an issue when you have to have an all world RB or an all world LB to win a game. JG has a scheme that you need the BEST players to have a chance to win. Look around the league and you see teams with less talent use it better.

Go back and watch the game. Wentz played terribly in the first half. That is the reason it was so close. We played it safe when the other team was struggling. Because of that we were up by 2. If we found a way to get touchdowns, we would have been up by 14 which would have made the second half a different game. We can't hope that the other team struggles to win. We need a scheme and game plan that can win with the players that are on the field.

And outside of the trap they could not run the ball. They tried to have Irving squeeze the play but he was either slow to react or screwed up his technique and fell down. In the first half they only ran it a couple of times. Without the running game we were able to rush Wentz and make him uncomfortable.

In the second half every other play was that damn trap and it got them 5+ yards every time. It's hard to rush on 3rd and 2.

You guys really want the blame to fit but you talk around the issue bringing up tenuously linked stats instead of presenting specific examples.

It doesn't really matter because Jerry isn't changing anything.

“We’re not going to get in here and in any way feel sorry for yourself, and I’m certainly not going to resign over this,” Jones said, with a laugh. “I’m not going to be changing any coaches out or anything like that.”

I'm sure a replay will be forthcoming. I'd say yours is one way to interpret it, although our DL exacted considerably more pressure in the first half than they did in the second. I'm thinking it's fair to say the coaches and the players shared responsibility for their performance and that Garrett was mostly being defensive in not blaming his players for their share of the blame. It reflects upon the coaching to do so. In that respect, I doubt we're really in stark disagreement as to where the blame lies. Still, I credit Philly for playing well, also.

Anytime the coaches fail to make needed adjustments and the players notice as much, there's a natural tendency for them to let up. Simply put, a lack of confidence spreads that things are likely to improve. We struggled to win in the last half, much like Philly did in the first. Still, the players are supposed to maintain their resolve. I'm not sure at all that that's what happened in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

The upcoming game on Turkey Day should also be fairly revealing as far as what to make of things. I'm sure we'll have some diverse opinions after that one as well, though. It's something that makes this website so interesting, though. Otherwise, it'd really be boring.

so, if the team/players didnt quit............that really puts the spotlight on getting out coached in the 2nd half.

That Rod and Leon, after the 1st few times they saw the Trap/run play on overhead cam shots couldnt get the front 7 to recognize it coming really makes me scratch my head...........
