The only part that worries me about that video, again, is when he says "you should see me run and do drills, you wouldn't even be able to tell I'm injured", if he was being coy, that would be a weird thing to say. I still feel like he's trying to make himself feel better about the injury, moreso than actual improvement in nerve regeneration.

But I'm assuming relying on a brace to help your foot drive off would lead to possible future injury issues (over compensating with other muscles). Playing with a boot would be worst case scenario. Would hate to see him in one.

I wonder is there visual evidence of him out there doing these drills?

There was the clip of him training from before the draft on his twitter. He can definitely move, but he would have been only showing moves he can do with his conditions. Didn't involve cutting or turning and carrying a receiver for example.

I see..... hmmmmmm this truly is a mystery lol.

This draft has worked out to where if he can't play this draft is still a success.....but if he becomes the player we think he can become? Yikes. This draft then becomes scary good.
I stated this in another thread a few days ago, but if he fully regains his physical ability, we may be looking down the road at another 1964 type of draft...Staubach, Renfro, and Bullet Bob...three HOFers. I fully realize that none of them (Dak, Zeke, and J Smith) have really accomplished anything of note yet, but the possibilities are awfully fun to consider!

Yeah it's early but thus far? It's looking like that type of draft. That rare draft.

We don't even need HOFers. A draft that can provide this many possible starters alone (Zeke, Smith, Collins, Dak, Brown) would be huge. The last one with multiple starters was 2008, but it fizzled quick (F. Jones, M. Jenkins, T. Choice, M. Bennett, O. Scandrick only being one to stick around and be effective long term)

You are correct. I would include Darius Jackson in there. He's got some wiggle and I have a feeling he will show value somewhere down the road. I would be thrilled wit that many contributors from one draft. I still think we'll look at three or four of these guys as more than just "contributors", though.

If he can get healthy and even become an above average starter along with Dak and Zeke showing what they have. Not to mention Brown at CB looking good that's the type of draft that sets a franchise on the right course for years.

That nerve could fire up tomorrow, or it may never fire up again. This pick was really a roll of the dice. Unfortunately, he can't be counted on until that nerve comes back to life. There really is no timetable for that no matter how many people try to put one on it.

I don't like the talk about him running and doing drills...seems like him trying to make himself feel better about the situation. Seems like unless that nerve fires, he can't really cut or drive off of that foot. So we're still at square one unless nerves have fired or he's had some sensation.

Though I'm assuming if there was a bit of feeling, I'm guessing they wouldn't want to tell the media and fans and blow it out of proportion or raise hopes when there would still be other steps needed

He has been running for months he didn't just start running today.

With Jerry as GM, it's the same roll of the dice that Gavin Escobar becomes our Gronk for Romo, or he plays one snap a game in his final year. When you have no boss you can take these types of chances

I guarantee that if the nerve doesn't fire, they will just give him a go as is.

No doctor should clear a guy with drop foot. I don't care how talented he is, he can't play pro football dragging a dead leg around with a brace.

That this is suddenly becoming a hot topic tells me something good is about to happen. Getting a likely top five pick in the second round is the only way to make a draft headlined by Dak and Zeke even more epic.

The reason its becoming hot topic is because Smith is at the recovery point that nerve should be re-firing soon. Huge risk here because nerve injury don't always go as we like them. I am staying positive until about nov...if it doesn't happen by then I am afraid Dallas will have to eat that pick.

Barring a miracle this fall-- and I wouldn't count it out as the kid has a strong faith and work ethic-- we should opt for patience.

I take the long view with this player. No pressure for him to come to work until he's 100% healthy and cleared to play.
