You've got to give Jaylon credit for staying positive and all. But then, again, I'd be positive too, if Jerry paid me what he's getting! :D

Just kidding . . . sooner or later, let's hope that nerve fires up and he's back in business. With luck, it'll happen sometime next year.

doesnt work that way. If nerve doesn't fire when nerve reaches muscle (which should be very close as surgeon said it was growing at 1" month and it had 6" area to regrow) then its situation were Smith will have to learn to live with that disability rest of his life.

This could be EPIC - If Dak and Zeke continue on there path which i fully expect, If Smith comes back like we expect and regains his form before injury he will transform this defense, with Brown playing very well at corner early in his career folks we have a future starter possibly more, and throw in collins and hopefully tapper if they can exceed expectations this draft could go down in Dallas Cowboys History as one of the best ever!

1-Future QB Limitless potential at this point
2- Future Pro-Bowl RB Sky's the limit
3- Future Impact Top 5 Linebacker with blazing speed who can cover slot corners and TE ( Endless options for DC )
4- Future starter at CB
5- 2 potential D Line Starters

JINXY LIKEY :thumbup::flagwave::grin:

Downside LOL there is none we hit a homerun with Dak and Zeke the bonus players are extra frosting on the cake !

2016 Draft EPIC

this is the device Jaylon wears while he rehabs (its on his left ankle). Without this device his foot would drop pointing toward the ground.

H-m-m, sounds like we'll just have to hope for the best, like he does. Seems it might vary somewhat, depending on the individual but if it's pretty much a cookie cutter type of deal, things could turn out either really good or pretty bad. Here's hoping it's good.

From his comments it sounds like the feeling is already coming back. The fact that he can do more and more is an indication of this. If there was no feeling he would be limited. I don't think this is one of those things where he just wakes up one day and it's fine.

I like this report although it doesn't add anything. At least he's running and doing drills.
He was pretty much doing a good bit of that before the draft. Until the drop foot is gone, he can't play. Until then we will have to make due with hanging on to every word in his Tweets.

I thought he still had drop foot / drop gait from the fibular nerve damage?? How can someone with that be able to do all of those things?? I don't understand either
Orthotics to brace the foot might do it.

So a simple Tweet with a praying emoji is not going to be how it all goes down?

If he's declared fit for play, I activate him and play him. He doesn't have to be a starter or know everything on defense in order to make an impact. He can play special teams; he can come inside on short yardage and be part of the goal line defense. That would be a big contribution to the team, along with helping him.

I hope he is ready by camp. I'd redshirt him regardless of the status of the nerve.

If the nerve is ready, he's ready. There's no additional risk involved.

I just don't think it will be healed until camp, so it's a moot point. I just want it to heal, whenever.

I still think it is impressive how much he is doing right now even with the nerve damage. Sure looks like right now he can play to me from the videos.

JPP is out there playing without a thumb and finger. Demsey kicked a 60 yarder with half a foot. Jaylon Smith has the heart of a champion from what little rehab videos I have seen. And a lot of football is about the heart. Emmitt and Michael Irvin had the heart of champions. I'll gladly take the risk associated with Jaylon Smith if the payoff is that combination of talent and heart.

That Tweet from Jaylon was not about the nerve fighting. From Sportsday interview this is what he had to say.

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...nd-rounder-jaylon-smith-copes-recovery-injury

The former Notre Dame star is being eagerly watched for signs of healing in the nerve injury he suffered as part of a severe knee injury in the Fiesta Bowl in January.

That's not what the tweet was about, Smith said Tuesday, but the second-round draft pick did go on to provide an update on his progress.

"Just giving thanks for being in this situation," said Smith, who always appears upbeat. "Just cause I'm thanking the Lord, it doesn't have to necessarily mean that it's dealing with my injury."

I am failing to understand how people think a guy who has not TACKLED anyone since his college days is READY to help an NFL team. I guess that would mean OTAs, mini camp, training camp and practice are really not needed?

If he's cleared he could practice at a certain time on NFI and come off two weeks after that.

He's getting in shape already. Did you read the OP? Yes he'll need to get some pops in but if he's ready why not play him a little?
